Fishing Frustration: Destiny 2 Fans Share Major Complaint

Destiny 2's new fishing activity has been well received by fans, but players have expressed frustration with it being tied to public events Season of the Deep brought many updates and balances, but this one issue seems to be a major pain point for players

Season of the Deep in Destiny 2 has brought about a new and exciting feature for players: fishing. This relaxing activity allows players to take a break from the intense action of core activities and catch various types of fish to earn rewards. However, players have expressed frustration with the fact that the fishing activity is tied to public events. Despite the overall positive reception of fishing, this issue has caused some players to feel hindered in their enjoyment of the feature. Alongside the introduction of fishing, Season 21 has also brought a plethora of updates and tweaks to the game, including balancing weapons and exotics, as well as attempting to revive lesser used subclasses. Additionally, players can look forward to new seasonal missions where they will battle Taken and Hive in the depths of the Methane Ocean on Titan.

While the fishing minigame can be played alone, Destiny 2 encourages players to fish with others by offering a buff called Focused Fishing. This buff increases in value the longer players fish together at a location, making it easier to find rare fish over time and obtain better loot. However, players have voiced their dissatisfaction with the system, as fishing locations are tied to public activities that disappear when one spawns, causing the fishing hole and buff to vanish with it.

Fans have taken to social media and the Destiny 2 subReddit to express their frustrations. One post by a user named unnecessary_z praised the gameplay loop associated with fishing but noted how public event interruptions were causing players to go AFK until the event ended. Other users agreed, while some theorized that if the Focus didn't reset, everyone would always have the maximum buff, potentially breaking the game's economy with easily obtainable resources and loot. Regardless, fans agree that the current system could benefit from a few tweaks.

However, players have expressed their concerns about a change that came with the Season of the Deep update. The drop rate for Neomuna weapons from VIP patrols has been reduced according to the patch notes, which was originally an effortless way to obtain some of the newer gear. This means that players who are looking to get their hands on these new weapons will have to put in more time and effort than they initially anticipated.

Destiny 2 is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
