The first is Peppy, Asta's white puppy, whose exceptional sense of smell helps locate people or items in the Herta Space Station. Players can also interact with and play with Peppy. Another companion is Diting, Tingyun's bionic dog, inspired by a lion or foo dog. Diting aids the Trailblazer in finding Stellaron Hunter Kafka at Xianzhou Luofu.

Excitingly, a future update of Honkai: Star Rail may introduce a new adorable pet. A leak from h2tr_ suggests that the unreleased character, Topaz, will have a pet Warp Trotter called Zhangzhang. In the game, Warp Trotters are gentle hog-like creatures that appear randomly during battles and drop additional rewards when defeated. According to the leaked image, Zhangzhang will be easily recognizable by the red bow tied to its tail.

No additional information has been disclosed about Zhangzhang's abilities and role in the storyline of Honkai: Star Rail. However, numerous players expressed their enthusiasm to see them in the game. One player mentioned their excitement in discovering more about Topaz, besides the rumored skills she possesses. Conversely, some players found Zhangzhang's design thus far to be "disappointing," expecting a fiery element to be incorporated due to Topaz being a Fire-character.
