Highlights
Bungie will not increase the power level cap in Destiny 2 for Season 22, but will make the game more challenging.
By maintaining the current power level cap, players can decrease the amount of tedious tasks and concentrate on engaging in activities they find enjoyable. Bungie is actively incorporating additional Battlegrounds and evaluating player input to refine the game's challenge. Additionally, they are introducing fresh elements to the Strand and upgrading Exotics in Season 22.
Bungie has announced that they will not be raising the power level cap in Destiny 2 for Season 22. Instead, they plan to introduce more challenges to the game. The power level cap has remained the same since the release of the Lightfall DLC, and Bungie intends to maintain it for one more season.
In previous seasons, players had to reach a specific power level in order to survive endgame activities like raids and Grand Master Nigthfalls. However, with the Season of the Deep, Bungie tried a new approach by keeping the pinnacle cap unchanged. This made the grind less tedious for players and was well-received by the community. As a result, Bungie has decided to maintain the cap for Season 22. However, they will be adjusting the game's difficulty to provide a greater challenge for players while reducing the grind.
In a recent blog post, Bungie received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback regarding their decision to maintain the current power level in Season 21. This feedback has influenced their choice to keep the power cap unchanged for Destiny 2 Season 22 as well. However, it's important to note that power level requirements will still be evident in higher tier activities such as Master raids, Grandmaster Nightfalls, Master Lost Sectors, and Trials of Osiris. Bungie's intention in preserving the power cap is to prevent players from feeling obligated to acquire pinnacles every week. Nonetheless, they are determined to reintroduce a sense of challenge to Destiny by introducing more Battlegrounds to Vanguard Nightfalls and Grandmaster Nightfalls. Moreover, Bungie has committed to constantly monitoring player feedback on this matter, ensuring that they can appropriately adjust the game's difficulty in the future.
Many fans appreciate that the power level cap has not been changed, allowing them to focus on their preferred activities without the need to grind for pinnacles. Rumors suggested that Deep Dives in Destiny 2's Season 21 were a test for removing power levels, and it seems that Bungie is continuing this experiment in Season 22. However, the leaks from August 2022 about Bungie completely removing power levels did not come to fruition.
Additionally, Destiny 2's Season 22 will introduce new Strand aspects and revamped Exotics. The community's request for the return of sunset exotic missions will also be fulfilled in Season 22 through an exotic mission rotation, which is sure to add excitement.
Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
