Dive into Destiny 2: The Epic Implications of Savathun's Resurrection Await!

Savathun, the Witch Queen, returns to Destiny 2 after a year, but her role may surprise fans Get ready for an unexpected twist in the highly anticipated arrival of this notorious character

Bungie has addressed the return of Savathun in Destiny 2, cautioning players not to expect her and the Hive to immediately team up with the Guardians. The confirmation of Savathun's imminent return was revealed during a recent story mission, suggesting that she may appear in Season 22 or 23.

After the events of Destiny 2's Lightfall DLC, the Guardians and the Vanguard remain unaware of the location of the Witness or how to track them after their entry into the Traveler through the Veil. In the midst of this uncertainty, a forgotten Guardian named Sloane resurfaces on Titan and aids the Guardians in their search for information about the Witness through Ahsa, an aquatic creature. In the previous week's story mission, the Vanguard successfully rescued Ahsa, who divulged that the Guardians will require Savathun's assistance in battling the Witness. As a result, some fans speculated that the Witch Queen would become an ally in the forthcoming confrontation, but Bungie advises against prematurely making such assumptions.

As reported by Dexerto, Robert Brookes, senior narrative designer of Destiny 2, acknowledged that the Hive has perpetrated extensive acts of genocide. Reflecting on this, he expressed the challenges in trying to view the Hive from a different perspective, as there is a significant amount of ground to cover in order to make amends. Brookes also mentioned that although Savathun now possesses the Light and could potentially be seen as an ally, the Hive's history of committing heinous crimes throughout the galaxy for billions of years makes it difficult to envision such a scenario.

The Hive Gods adhered to a doctrine known as "Sword Logic," which led them to commit acts of genocide and other heinous crimes. However, during the Witch Queen campaign, it was revealed that the Witness had deceived the Hive Gods into believing that the Sword Logic was their true path. Savathun discovered this deceit at the campaign's end, although the Guardians had already defeated her by then. Interestingly, her Ghost managed to escape with her Light powers intact, suggesting a potential return in the future. Despite the Guardians needing her assistance to find the Witness, Savathun cannot be considered an ally as she embodies the very essence of deception as the Goddess of Deception.

Savathun's reappearance in Destiny 2 takes the game's story in an intriguing direction. The Season of the Deep features references to all three Hive Gods, and Oryx's body can be found in the Ghosts of the Deep Dungeon. Furthermore, Xivu Arath plays a significant role in the current season, which may foreshadow a future confrontation with the Hive God of War.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
