Captain Lee has a unique perspective on the breakdown of Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard's relationship. In a recent episode of his "Salty With Captain Lee" podcast, the 73-year-old Below Deck alum expressed his annoyance towards Kyle Cooke, stating that he believes Kyle played a role in the situation to some extent.
Lee raised concerns about the manner in which Cooke, aged 41, discussed Hubbard, aged 37, while she was involved with his closest companion.
"The way he unleashed a barrage of insults at Lindsay in front of Carl, during that incident when he was heavily intoxicated," the captain recalled, reflecting on a scene from season 7. "And Carl just sat there calmly, refraining from getting upset or confrontational with him, although he had every justification to do so."
Radke, aged 38, and Hubbard's relationship has been documented on Summer House since the show first aired in 2017. They briefly dated during season 4 but chose to remain friends instead. After rekindling their romance at the end of season 6, Radke proposed to Hubbard in 2022.
In August, we confirmed that Radke called off their engagement, which was supposed to culminate in a November wedding. The now-former couple issued separate statements regarding the cancellation of their ceremony. Radke sent a letter to attendees, revealing that Hubbard was deeply saddened by his decision. On the other hand, Hubbard took to social media to criticize Radke for the breakup.
Several members of the Summer House cast have expressed their thoughts on the breakup, with Cooke catching Bravo viewers off guard with his response in recent weeks.
"Discussing this topic is difficult. Despite noticing some issues in their relationship, I was still rooting for them. Based on what I knew, I wasn't surprised," he shared during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen on October 24. "Canceling a wedding is probably more challenging than proposing, so I never really thought it would actually happen. It's a drastic decision that reflects the current situation."
Reflecting on his experience filming season 8 of Radke and Hubbard's reality show, Cooke expressed his perspective on their issues, describing it as having a "front row seat". According to Cooke, he believes that Carl may not have been aware of the decision to end things until they were in the midst of the conversation. Cooke only learned about this outcome afterwards, emphasizing that it was a very spontaneous and in-the-moment situation. He expressed a hope that Radke and Hubbard can still share a summer house, as it would be a shame for their journey together to come to an end.
During the podcast on Wednesday, Lee, who was supposed to officiate Radke and Hubbard's wedding, strongly criticized Cooke's comments.

"Kyle's admission shook the ground as he revealed his keen perception of the flaws within their relationship. It is time for you to awaken, for you were an integral part of those fissures," he expressed. "As Carl's supposed best friend, your constant derogatory comments about Lindsay during every conversation with him is not what true friends do."
In his final statement, Lee empathized with both parties involved: "My heart goes out to both of them. It is crucial for those who are unaware to understand their lack of knowledge and refrain from speculating, as even the slightest words can have a significant impact. I can't fathom how Kyle and Carl managed to maintain their friendship."
Hubbard has recently spoken out about the circumstances that caused Radke to end their engagement.
In an exclusive interview featured in the latest issue of We magazine, Hubbard revealed, "Like any couple, we had disagreements, but nothing so significant that it would lead to a breakup. It was during the final two weeks of summer when his attitude and behavior suddenly changed." She added, "He became confrontational and aggressive, and I was left feeling perplexed."
Hubbard felt completely blindsided and humiliated by the situation. She found it even more distressing because it happened after filming had wrapped up and cameras were set up to document the breakup. The news spread quickly, reaching the public in just 30 minutes.
While reflecting on the breakup, Hubbard did not hold back her thoughts about Cooke. She believes he has always had a personal vendetta against her and views her as a manipulative person who controls everything. Hubbard suspects that Cooke is trying to support Carl and also believes she is always in the wrong. She has grown accustomed to this treatment.
