Paige DeSorbo was caught off guard when more Summer House drama unfolded after season 8 finished filming. The unexpected breakup between Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard added to the surprises.
"This summer was unlike any other," Paige, 30, shared on the September 28 episode of "The Toast" podcast. "We had an amazing time, to the point where on the last day of filming, we were already speculating about our reunion. It was smooth sailing."
Paige commented on the recent season's conclusion, stating that although there was some drama, it wasn't intense enough to sever ties with anyone involved. The drama was more relatable and manageable, and they didn't anticipate any further complications. However, just two days after filming concluded, it was announced that Carl, aged 38, and Lindsay, aged 37, had called off their engagement.
Paige shared that just 48 hours later, they discovered the news on the internet like everyone else. No one was present to inform them, and Paige herself is not fully aware of the specifics. She only found out through the internet and reached out to Amanda Batula, who advised her to call.
On August 31, we confirmed that the couple, scheduled to get married in November, had ended their relationship. Lindsay was completely caught off guard by the cancellation of the engagement, but it had been a long time coming for Carl, according to an exclusive source who spoke to Us at the time. Emotionally, he had checked out of the relationship for a while.
Meanwhile, a second insider teased that the aftermath of the breakup would play out on Summer House season 8, saying, “Only producers knew this [breakup] was coming.”
The 2019 cast of 'Summer House', pictured above, sparked rumors among fans about the authenticity of their split for promotional purposes. However, Andy Cohen, the executive producer at Bravo, promptly dismissed these speculations.
"It was an unexpected separation. ... I feel uneasy witnessing couples parting ways," he shared during an appearance on SiriusXM's Radio Andy show. "As the season unfolded, I sensed there were numerous events occurring between them behind the scenes, as informed by the production team. You will witness it all unfold on the show. Seeing people come together and fall in love is something I genuinely cherish. Therefore, I support all these couples."
Following that, Carl finally addressed the situation in a message he sent to the guests who were invited to his and Lindsay's wedding.
"We are profoundly sorry to our guests for the confusion and lack of communication during the past two weeks," he expressed earlier this month. "Before we could even begin discussing the way forward, we were left perplexed, desperately trying to understand how this situation came about."
Carl continued, "Unfortunately, there have been numerous falsehoods and misunderstandings that have only intensified our pain. Regrettably, we have decided not to proceed with the wedding at this time. Lindsay is devastated, and I am overwhelmed by how everything unfolded. We humbly request patience and understanding as we heal and recover during this incredibly challenging period."
In her own statement, Lindsay emphasized that she did not initiate the end of their engagement.
"These past two weeks have been incredibly devastating and emotionally overwhelming for me. My entire future and life were abruptly taken away from me, and I have been struggling to comprehend it all without any answers or closure. I feel deeply humiliated by how everything unfolded and, at the same time, heartbroken that it occurred in the first place. My trust has been shattered, and accepting that has been a challenging process," she expressed through Instagram on September 14th. "I strongly disagree with prematurely ending a relationship of this magnitude without exhausting all possible avenues."
