Destiny 2 Overhauls the Weakest PvE Weapon Type - A Game Changer!

Destiny 2's PvE gameplay is set to receive a significant overhaul with the introduction of major changes to one of the game's weaker weapon types in the upcoming updates

Bungie, the studio behind Destiny 2, is constantly adjusting the game's weapon sandbox to maintain balance among all weapon types. However, one weapon type has consistently been considered inadequate in PvE by players. With the start of Season of the Deep, Bungie has already implemented some changes to this weapon type to align with the seasonal weapon mods. While the game's next significant update is still a ways off, players can now anticipate these modifications coming to fruition in the near future.

In the current season of Destiny 2, players return to Titan following the disappearance of the Witness. Deputy Commander Sloane has returned as well and is seeking the help of guardians to safeguard a mysterious creature living in the moon's methane ocean. The creature may hold valuable information about the Witness' origins and how to stop it. However, Xivu Arath, the Hive god, has taken notice and is actively attempting to thwart the Vanguard's plans.

Bungie recently addressed community concerns regarding the current state of hand cannons in Destiny. Players were curious if there were any plans to buff the weapon type to bring it back to the power level seen in Shadowkeep. While the studio acknowledged the need for changes, they clarified that the damage output would not be reverted to the same level as seen in Shadowkeep. However, Bungie did confirm that several adjustments were in the works for the mid-season update of Season of the Deep and beyond.

The weapon team has opted for a blanket 20% damage buff in the mid-season update instead of returning to "Shadowkeep levels," which would negatively impact non-critical hits. Current playtests indicate that future seasons may bring a 15% buff to reload speed when the stat is at zero, as well as 20% and 75% damage buffs to red bar and orange bar enemies, respectively. Additionally, Bungie will introduce a new sub-family of hand cannons called Heavy Burst Hand Cannons, starting with the Warden's Law, which fires a two-round burst. While it remains to be seen how effective these changes will be, Bungie is taking player complaints about hand cannons seriously and aiming to provide a solution. Certain hand cannons, such as The Last Word or Thorn, still pack a punch in PvE and PvP due to their unique perks. However, if these planned changes prove successful, players can expect to see an increase in the use of hand cannons, especially in endgame activities.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
