Article Key Points
Devil's Ruin could benefit from an Exotic Catalyst that distinguishes its two firing modes, as they are too similar to justify their existence.
The Parasite requires an Exotic Catalyst to enhance its damage buff, making it both more secure and potent. Currently, players have to give up a heavy weapon to utilize it effectively.
Salvation's Grip necessitates an Exotic Catalyst that completely transforms the weapon, as it currently doesn't hold enough value to occupy the player's sole Exotic weapon slot when compared to other alternatives.
In recent times, Destiny 2 has consistently introduced a new Exotic weapon with every passing Season. Alongside the already extensive collection of existing Exotic weapons in Destiny 2, there is an impressively vast array to choose from.
The majority of Destiny 2's Exotic weapons truly live up to their title by featuring an Exotic Catalyst that enhances specific attributes or introduces novel functionalities to the already formidable arsenal. Nonetheless, certain Exotic weapons fall short in terms of performance or lackluster effectiveness in distinct situations, warranting the urgent need for an Exotic Catalyst.
Exotic Weapons that Deserve a Buff From an Exotic Catalyst in Destiny 2
Devil's Ruin
Parasite
Devil's Ruin serves as the close-range variant of the Vex Mythoclast Exotic fusion rifle, featuring a built-in Champion counter as its alternate firing mode. However, the striking similarity between the weapon's standard and alternate firing modes raises the question of their necessity. Adding an Exotic Catalyst to Devil's Ruin could greatly enhance its distinctiveness by offering notable differences between the two firing modes.
The Parasite offers a unique benefit whereby the player's damage is increased temporarily after self-inflicting harm with one of the weapon's projectiles. However, this buff poses a drawback as players who utilize this tactic relinquish the opportunity to carry both a heavy weapon and an Exotic weapon, and the damage enhancement does not adequately compensate for this sacrifice. Moreover, intentionally injuring oneself with a grenade launcher is not always a viable or prudent strategy. Therefore, incorporating an Exotic Catalyst could enhance the weapon's effectiveness and safety.
Salvation's Grip
This weapon originally gained popularity due to its ability to generate Stasis Crystals whenever needed. However, as numerous other weapons now possess this capability, Salvation's Grip no longer justifies taking up the sole Exotic weapon slot of players. Therefore, a long-awaited Exotic Catalyst for Salvation's Grip is crucial in completely revamping its core functionality.
The Lament
The Lament is a unique Exotic weapon capable of stunning Champions while also providing the player with healing benefits during combat. While this weapon offers healing capabilities, it may not always be the safest choice for Destiny 2's challenging endgame activities. However, by obtaining an Exotic Catalyst, such as one that grants Restoration or an Overshield to the player, this weapon's effectiveness in high-difficulty content could be significantly enhanced.
Truth
The Queenbreaker
This particular weapon is among the assortment of weapons that has made a comeback from the original Destiny game. While it remains enjoyable to use in the Destiny 2 sequel, it doesn't quite measure up to the most recent formidable rocket launchers in the endgame meta for damage per second (DPS). However, the introduction of a Catalyst could potentially change this dynamic.
The Queenbreaker, just like the Truth rocket launcher, falls into the same predicament as returning weapons from Destiny 1. Despite being usable in Destiny 2, it pales in comparison to the latest Legendary weapons. In order to justify its place as an Exotic weapon, it is crucial for the Queenbreaker to receive a significant buff through its Exotic Catalyst, especially when compared to its more powerful legendary counterparts.
Wavesplitter
Wish-Ender
In order to maximize the damage output of the Wavesplitter, it is necessary to continuously fire the weapon. It would be beneficial to have an Exotic Catalyst that enhances its ammunition conservation. While the Wavesplitter is already formidable even without fully activating its damage boost, the addition of any type of Exotic Catalyst buff would further increase the value of this weapon.
According to Destinytracker,
the Wish-Ender is a highly popular choice among Destiny 2's PvP players. This bow stands out with its unique ability to detect enemies even when they are concealed by walls or obstacles, making it an invaluable weapon. Aside from this exceptional trait, the Wish-Ender performs just like any other legendary bow. Even if its Catalyst only offers a minor increase in stats, it would still be a welcome addition to this already impressive weapon.

Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z fan, I am excited about the potential for new Exotic Catalysts in Destiny 2. I think that these Catalysts could really help to improve the performance of some of the more lackluster Exotic weapons in the game, and make them more viable options for endgame content.
I am particularly interested in the potential for the Devil's Ruin and Parasite Catalysts. I think that these weapons have a lot of potential, but they are currently held back by their lack of a Catalyst. I am hopeful that the Catalysts will address these issues and make these weapons more competitive with the other Exotic weapons in the game.
