According to a recent weekly blog post from Bungie, some of the lowest-performing Exotics will be receiving buffs while some of the top-performing ones will be receiving nerfs in Destiny 2 Season 22. As the Season of the Deep continues, the developers have shared some of their plans for Exotics and the game's future. With each new season, Destiny 2 introduces a plethora of legendary weapons and Exotics for players to acquire through various activities. Balancing Exotic weapons and armor is a frequent topic of discussion within the community, as Bungie regularly releases weapon-tuning patches and hotfixes for Destiny 2. The beginning of the Season of the Deep has already seen significant changes to 24 different Exotic armor pieces, including Ophidian Aspect and Starfire Protocol. It seems that Bungie is gearing up for even more adjustments to Exotic armor and weapons in the near future.
Bungie has announced in their latest blog post that they will be making significant changes to the Exotic armor in Destiny 2 Season 22, set to launch in August 2023. The underperforming Exotic armor will be receiving substantial buffs while the top-performing Exotic armor, which Bungie considers "too strong," will be nerfed. Following the launch of Season 22, Bungie plans to continue to balance Exotic armor gradually in subsequent seasons.
Bungie has hinted at the possibility of buffing and nerfing certain Exotic armor pieces in Season 22, without providing specifics at this time. However, the developers have acknowledged that many current Exotic armor pieces are rarely used in the current Destiny 2 sandbox. A forthcoming list of changes to Exotic armor will be shared closer to the launch of Season 22, and Bungie is hopeful that players will be excited for these updates. With Season 22 potentially featuring updates to legacy Exotic armor, players may be inspired to dust off old favorites from their vaults, resulting in a more varied PvE and PvP experience. Given that some of Destiny 2's top Exotic armor may be nerfed, players may want to start thinking about new loadouts in advance of the upcoming season.
The Destiny 2 community can breathe a sigh of relief as the upcoming showcase on August 23 promises to shed more light on The Final Shape expansion and the much-anticipated return of Cayde-6. Season 22 is also set to commence shortly after the showcase, providing players with fresh content to dive into. Destiny 2 is currently accessible on various platforms, including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
