Destiny 2 Ability Nerfs Introduced in the Update 730 Patch Notes

Destiny 2's most recent major update has arrived, marking the start of the Season of the Wish. This update includes significant changes to gameplay such as adjustments to Crucible, abilities, armor mods, and more. Here are the details.

Update 7.3.0 will bring changes to abilities, including adjustments to melee slides and shoulder charges to reduce their impact. Bungie has also reduced the suppression time for melee lunges when hit by certain displacing melee abilities. Additionally, Bungie has made various tweaks to abilities across multiple subclasses, with further details available in the complete patch notes below.

ACTIVITIES

RITUAL PLAYLISTS

Rewards for all ritual activities have been updated. The base Glimmer award has been increased.

You win a Competitive Division match.

You obtain a high score in a strike or Nightfall.

Implemented a double rewards booster for Crucible.

Citadel map is back. Crucible matches make a return to the Dreaming City.

Sparrow Control mode has been added to Crucible.

Adjusted spawn points on Endless Vale, Midtown, and Meltdown maps to alleviate certain spawn killing and trapping issues.

Competitive Division

Removed Promotion and Relegation Series from all divisions except Adept and Ascendant.

Countdown RushDecreased score to win from 6 to 5.

Decreased round time from 120 seconds to 90 seconds.

If the final round begins at 4-4, the Elimination ruleset will be activated, resulting in Sudden Death.

Updates have been made to the Competitive Division rating adjustments. Rank adjustments now focus on wins and losses without taking inflation protection into account.

Iron Banner Eruption:Fixed an issue where some Eruption dialogue lines would play simultaneously.

Medals

Crucible Labs

Added Checkmate Dominion to Crucible Labs.

We added Checkmate Countdown Rush and Checkmate Clash to Crucible Labs.

The penalty for ability cooldown has been reduced from 50% to 30%. Cooldowns should now be more balanced when combined with the Season of the Wish abilities tuning.

Added Countdown Rush as a Competitive Crucible mode.

Countdown RushFixed an issue where music would cease to play after the first bomb has been detonated.

Trials of Osiris now offers a weekly reward based on the number of consecutive wins before your card is disqualified. Achieving a longer win streak will also grant the rewards of all the lower tiers, if not already earned. At 3 wins, players can earn Trials Armor.

Maximum number of Relic Depots decreased from 4 to 3.

Relic Charge: The passive relic charge has been raised from 1% to 2% every 5 seconds. In addition, players now gain more relic charge from loadout kills, with the player who dealt the final blow receiving an additional charge. All damage participant players now receive 10%.

UIRelic waypoints blink when they're low on ammo.

Relic waypoints will no longer show if it's not in your field of view.

Fixed duplicate "relic energy charged" incident announcements.

Seasonal Challenges

Fixed an issue where Seasonal Challenges from previous Seasons were not automatically untracked and couldn't be manually untracked.

Fixed the background tree in the drawer so that it shows up on various states.

Fixed body text in the drawer so it would display italicized.

Resolved a problem where the rank of the winning Guardian was displayed incorrectly on their emblem after defeating another Guardian in Crucible.

Updated the Guardian Ranks' notification to differentiate between rank renewal and earning a new rank.

Fixed an issue where the keyboard layout for Brazilian Portuguese was not working properly.

GAMEPLAY AND INVESTMENT

ARMOR

Exotic Armor

The Aeon Swift, Aeon Safe, and Aeon SoulSect of Force have been improved. Now, rapid precision hits will grant quicker reload and weapon swap speeds, and the bonus duration has been extended to 10 seconds (up from 6).

Stunning a Champion or defeating a boss or miniboss no longer provides bonus melee, grenade, or Super energy. Now, stunning a Champion or landing rapid precision hits on Champions, elites, or minibosses will mark them for your allies. Marked targets will take +20% more damage from your allies. Additionally, when a target is initially marked, nearby Aeon Cult allies without the Sect of Force role will gain grenade and melee energy.

When you activate your Super, nearby allies will no longer receive immediate healing or an Overshield. Instead, critically injured allies near you will gain damage resistance from enemies as long as they remain close. Additionally, Aeon Cult allies without the Sect of Vigor role will recover class ability energy faster when nearby.

For Hunters wearing Shards of Galanor, Throwing Knife kills now grant Super energy between +2.5% and +5%, depending on the type of enemy eliminated.

St0mp-EE5Removed previously added requirement to have full class ability energy to benefit from the movement bonuses.

Reduced the airborne lateral acceleration bonus.

Sidearm kills now extend the damage bonus duration by 3 seconds and fully reload your Sidearm from reserves. However, in PvP, the damage bonus has been reduced to +10% Sidearm damage from +35% to balance the longer duration.

Celestial NighthawkPrecision kills now grant Super energy ranging between +1.5% and +4.5%, depending on target type killed.

Increased Golden Gun impact damage by 25%.

Kills with this Exotic's explosion will now trigger an additional explosion.

Peregrine GreavesYou now have to be airborne for a brief time before the Exotic effects will apply.

When attacking Champions, Tormentors, or minibosses with a Shoulder Charge, you will deal even more damage and regain your melee energy. The Wormgod CaressThe Burning Fist Exotic now functions as a meter that grows with melee kills and finishers, decreasing over time. The fuller the meter, the faster it will decay.

SynthocepsRemoved extended melee lunge distance.

Increased Glaive melee bonus to +100% (from +50%).

When you use Frostpulse rift as a WarlockBallidorse Wrathweaver, nearby allies will receive a Tier 2 Stasis Surge weapon bonus for 10 seconds in PvE and 5 seconds in PvP, along with a 50hp overshield. Additionally, the Winter's Wrath Shockwave will now provide allies with the Tier 4 Stasis Surge weapon bonus.

Once your Super ends, you will experience a temporary boost in melee and grenade regen for 8 seconds.

Felwinter's Helm now increases the size and duration of the weakening burst against all targets, except for bosses, which retains its maximum size and duration for finishers.

Armor Mods

Heavy Handed, Firepower, and ReaperAdded a 10-second cooldown for generating Orbs of Power.

The ability energy provided by the mod stacks has been adjusted to a range of +16% to +45%, based on the number of stacks equipped and the amount of armor charges consumed. Additionally, Momentum Transfer, Bolstering Detonation, Impact Induction, and Focusing Strike now offer 12%, 17%, and 20% ability energy for 1, 2, and 3 stacks respectively, a decrease from the previous 20%, 25%, and 25% values.

The amount of energy gained is decreased even more depending on the cooldown of the class ability employed, with the shortest cooldowns reducing it by 60%. DistributionNow offers 4%/6%/7% ability energy for neutral game abilities and 2%/3%/4% Super energy for 1/2/3 stacks, respectively.

Resolved the issue of Artifice Armor not being available as an armor ornament when acquired before non-Artifice Armor.

Resolved the problem of decaying Armor Charge mods ceasing to function when slotted in large numbers.

Fixed an issue where Arbor Warden was not playing barricade sound effects for other players.

Fixed an issue preventing Foetracer's visor visual effects from functioning.

Auto RiflesGeneralIncreased damage against Minor (red bar) combatants by 10%.

In PvP, the base Glaive shield damage resistance is now tiered. The base resistance against all damage remains at 50%, while the resistance against Primary ammo weapons and melee attacks has been reduced to 30%.

Melee: The delay after firing before you can melee has been reduced from 0.75 seconds to 0.2 seconds.

Sniper Rifles: Overall PvE damage for Sniper Rifles has been increased by 15%, including Exotic Sniper Rifles that use Heavy ammo.

Solved a problem where Sword perks that activate while guarding were not functioning properly when the player had an overshield. Also addressed an issue where knockback was not being negated when blocking with a Sword and having an overshield.

Vex MythoclastIncreased damage versusMinor (red bar) combatants by 10%.

Bosses by 25%.

ThornPicking up a Remnant can overflow the magazine, up to 40 rounds max.

Thorn Catalyst improves stats and functionality:Adds +20 to range.

Glaives Class General Changes:

- Activating the perk now grants 1 ammo, allowing use even when ammo is depleted.

- No longer passively drains shield energy when special ammo reload is used to activate the perk.

Increased mag size from 4 to 5.

Edge of Action (Titan)Passing through the bubble now grants bonus reload speed, handling, and a small amount of stacking bonus damage in addition to the overshield.

Reduced the health of the bubble from 8000 to 2400 to account for the increased uptime and improved effects.

Edge of Concurrence (Hunter)Lightning Seeker now jolts targets on impact.

Salvation's Grip now has a speed limit on detonation when damaging Stasis crystals, preventing the player from shattering too many crystals in a single frame and encountering an error code that kicks them to orbit.

Additionally, the blank icon on the kill screen for Salvation's Grip shatter kills and Headstone Stasis crystal shatter kills has been removed.

The self-damage blast radius has been halved, and the self-damage has been reduced.

Monte CarloThe bayonet stab now has controller rumble.

Quicksilver Storm: Resolved an issue where the special reload animation played in third-person instead of the normal reload. Also fixed the bug where the foregrip animated while firing in Auto Rifle mode.

Danger ZoneWe made a small change to how it works on Rocket Launchers. You can figure it out...

Heavy GripRemoved an unintended effect that was slightly increasing incoming flinch.

Non-burst Sidearms: Reduced from 12 to 8 (Enhanced reduced from 9 to 7). 

General

Added foundry weapons as a reward from Lost Sectors.

Changed price for Common and Uncommon Hand Cannons in collections to match the price of other Common and Uncommon weapons. 

Fixed an issue where some Exotic weapons had incorrect tray icons shown on kill feeds.

Fixed an issue where the camera shifts slightly to the left when equipping a Sidearm or Hand Cannon.

Fixed an issue where Kinetic-slot Special ammo weapons were starting with max ammo reserves when landing into PvE activities.

BlinkFixed an issue where rapid Blinks could result in failed slide attempts.

The new system reduces the cooldown of Firebolt Grenade by 6.4 seconds and Lightning Grenade by 7.6 seconds with a 10% base energy chunk. Perks that provided full energy refunds or targeted specific abilities remain unchanged.

HunterTempest StrikeIncreased base damage from 110 to 125.

Reworked tracking behavior to be more consistent at further ranges.

Thundercrash has been corrected to use the appropriate tier of damage-based energy recharger. Additionally, Chaos Reach for Warlocks has also been adjusted to use the correct tier of damage-based energy recharger.

TitanThrowing HammerWhen picked up, it now returns melee energy over 1.4 seconds rather than instantly.

Increased projectile tracking strength by about 20%.

The energy regeneration for the Shield Throw ability when the Sentinel Shield is active no longer depends on the player's Discipline stat. Previously, the regeneration time ranged between 2.5 and 5 seconds based on Discipline, but it is now a flat 3 seconds at all times. However, it's important to note that this regeneration rate is reduced for the second Shield Throw charge when Offensive Bulwark is equipped.

Pocket SingularityIncreased projectile arming shape radius from 0.75m to 2m.

Increased projectile detonation radius from 3m to 3.75m.

When Pocket Singularity hits a target, it now interrupts active slides on the target. Additionally, the healing amount from activating Void GeneralDevourHealing has been reduced from a full heal to 100hp, unless the Feed the Void is equipped.

HunterWithering BladeIncreased projectile speed by 10%.

Increased maximum projectile lifetime by 10%.

Fixed an issue where projectile tracking would shut off completely if your first bounce was off the floor.

Winter's ShroudIncreased Slow stacks applied to PvE combatants from 40 to 60.

Increased Slow duration applied to PvE combatants from 4 seconds to 8 seconds.

Increased Slow detonation size vs. PvE combatants from 8m to 9m.

Glacial Quake will now freeze nearby players when cast, a behavior that was previously removed in Hotfix 3.1.1.1. Also, the on-cast pulse size versus players has been reduced from 8m to 6m.

The issue with Howl of the Storm not consistently freezing targets in contact with the created Stasis crystals has been fixed.

Increased the freeze detonation size for PvE combatants from 8m to 8.5m. The base cooldown time for Stasis Grenades and Glacier Grenade has been decreased from 152 seconds to 121 seconds. Please note that the cooldown penalties for Duskfield Grenade and Coldsnap Grenade have been updated to match the new Glacier Grenade cooldown time when Bleak Watcher is equipped.

The tracking strength of the grenade now gradually decreases from full strength to 0 throughout its lifetime instead of shutting off immediately after the seeker has been active for 0.5 seconds. The penalty of -10 Strength has been removed from Stasis General Fragments Whisper of Hedrons.

Whisper of HungerStat penalty changed from -10 Mobility/Intellect to -20 Strength.

Whisper of BondsRemoved -10 Discipline penalty.

TitanBladefuryHeavy now has independent energy regeneration while active, no longer relying on the player's Discipline stat. Instead of a variable 2.5 to 5 seconds, the regeneration time is now a consistent 3 seconds.

Banner of War now requires more enemy defeats to level up and provides increased time per enemy defeat at each level to balance the change.

Fixed an issue where unpowered Swords were being granted an incorrect buff by Banner of War.

WarlockWeavewalkFixed an issue where the Weavewalk visual effects could end early in some situations.

Resolved a systemic problem where networked projectiles could erroneously inflict impact damage multiple times. This issue was exacerbated at higher framerates.

PLATFORMS AND SYSTEMS

The Seal the Deal platform achievement now triggers completion with Seals generated after Forsaken.

The Veteran's Flair transmat effect is now visible in the ship customization screen. Glimmer in some chests will no longer disappear for all players, even when loot is still available for other fireteam members.

The tutorial screen for Bright Engrams will now properly appear the first time a Bright Engram is received.

The definition for the Knitting Time emote will now be ordered correctly.

Fixed an issue where the Wind Up finisher had an odd transition back to idle.

Players in a vendor performance will no longer get soft locked if their fireteam members start a cinematic.
