Demi Lovato recently attended the Met Gala after criticizing it eight years ago. The 31-year-old singer arrived at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City on May 6 wearing a stunning strapless silver gown designed by Prabal Gurung. The dress was adorned with metallic floral details that elegantly draped from the bodice to the train.
At the event themed “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” with a dress code of “Garden of Time,” the singer complemented her outfit with a sparkly necklace.
After eight years, Lovato made a comeback at the gala where she first appeared in 2016 wearing a stunning silver, black, and gold sequin Moschino gown.
Lovato attended an event with Nicki Minaj and designer Jeremy Scott. While taking photos, Minaj appeared to give Lovato a side-eye look, causing some confusion. Lovato later posted the photo on social media.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Lovato described the moment as awkward and not for them. The singer used hashtags like #cool and #sweatpants to express their feelings about the event.

Lovato addressed rumors of a feud with Minaj by clarifying their relationship. She mentioned that some people need to learn how to take a joke and added that she found humor in the awkwardness of the situation and the playful shade being thrown in the picture.
Two years after bashing the Met Gala online, Lovato opened up about how she had a “terrible experience” the first time she attended the event.
In 2018, she told Billboard about a celebrity who was difficult to be around, saying, "This one celebrity was a complete bitch and was miserable to be around. It was very cliquey. I remember being so uncomfortable that I wanted to drink."
Demi Lovato, who has been open about her struggles with substance abuse, revealed that the night was so distressing that she left the Metropolitan Museum of Art to attend an AA meeting.
I remember going to an AA meeting wearing millions of dollars worth of diamonds, even though I had changed my clothes. Surprisingly, I felt a stronger connection with the homeless individuals in the meeting who faced similar struggles to mine, rather than the people at the Met Gala. I found the fashion industry to be fake and only interested in sucking up to it.
