Brian Austin Green is getting real about parenting.
On a Monday, October 2nd episode of Lance Bass's podcast "Frosted Tips with Lance Bass," Green, who is 50 years old, discussed his son Kassius Lijah Marcil-Green, 21, coming out as gay. The actor from Beverly Hills: 90210 admitted that he initially found it difficult to grasp the concept due to his limited understanding of it.
"It has been an intriguing experience," he shared with the 'NSync member. "I must admit, it was challenging to accept my son being gay since it was previously unknown to me."
Following a conversation with his son, Green experienced a profound shift in perspective. "I found myself engaged in discussions with Kash, where I genuinely sought to comprehend viewpoints that initially seemed unfamiliar to me," explained Green. "It dawned on me that these differences weren't significant after all. It all boils down to one's choice of partner, which doesn't impact me whatsoever."
He went on, "That's the message I constantly emphasize to people now - it has no impact on your life. Why are you so concerned? And why do you insist on forcing your emotions and opinions onto something that genuinely has no bearing on you?"
Throughout their discussion, Bass, openly gay since 2006, praised Green for his parenting skills.
“He was fortunate to have found a loving family like yours, as many children out there are not as lucky,” Bass remarked. “Even if their parents are accepting, there are often moments when these children sense that their parents still have reservations about it.”

Green shares custody of Kassius with his ex-girlfriend Vanessa Marcil. Following their separation in 2003, they engaged in a custody dispute over their son, and their public criticism of each other has persisted over the years. In February, Green expressed dissatisfaction with Marcil, 54, for her absence during their son's upbringing and acknowledged the involvement of his ex-wife, Megan Fox, in helping to raise him.
"Megan and I work tirelessly to provide Kass with a holistic upbringing, given his mother's frequent absence," Green wrote in a Instagram Story post previously. "I assume this is why she shares so much about him now. When will she disappear for good."
In a recent episode of their podcast "Old-ish," Green disclosed that co-parenting with Marcil has been a challenging journey from the start, sharing his experiences alongside his fiancé Sharna Burgess.
Burgess stated that Green had been experiencing vertigo for an extended period, which greatly hindered his ability to see his son with Marcil.
During the time when he was unable to visit Kassisus, Vanessa made no attempt to facilitate Brian's time with him. Instead, she depicted him as an absent father who willingly chose not to be present for his son. This narrative likely influenced Kass and the detrimental impact it had on him is unimaginable.
Green discussed his relationship with Marcil in an interview with Us during the same month. Reflecting on their past, Green acknowledged that both of them made mistakes as they were young and inexperienced parents. He expressed a desire to change certain things in hindsight, but also recognized that the challenges they faced in parenting ultimately shaped him into the person he is today.
