Breaking News: Destiny 2 Shocks Players by Temporarily Disabling New Warlock Strand Aspect!

Bungie temporarily disables the new Warlock Strand Aspect in Destiny 2 Season of the Witch due to a critical damage glitch, ensuring a smoother gaming experience for players

Highlights

Bungie has disabled the Weavewalk Warlock Strand Aspect in Destiny 2 due to it being broken and overly resistant to damage in PvP activities.

The upcoming launch of the Crota's End raid may be impacted by this suspension, as there may not be enough time to rework the Aspect. Bungie has taken the decision to disable the recently introduced Weavewalk Warlock Strand Aspect in Destiny 2. This Aspect was included in the Destiny 2 Season of the Witch, alongside new Strand Aspects for Hunters and Titans.

Bungie has a history of unintentionally introducing game-breaking items and abilities to Destiny 2. For example, when Lightfall was released, the Winterbite Exotic Glaive in Destiny 2 caused excessive damage to bosses and had to be disabled. Similarly, the Jotunn Exotic Fusion rifle was disabled in Crucible playlists because it provided players with more Special Ammo than intended. Now, Bungie has taken the same approach with the new Warlock Aspect, which seems to be overpowered.

The suspension of the new Weavewalk Aspect was announced on the official Bungie Help Twitter account. For those unfamiliar, the Weavewalk Strand Aspect in Destiny 2 allows Warlocks to temporarily enter the weave, transforming into a walking Strand ghost with animations similar to the Nova Warp Super ability. In this state, players have high resistance to damage and passively accumulate up to 5 perched Threadlings, which can be instantly deployed once the Weavewalk concludes. However, fans have reported that the damage resistance of the Aspect in PvP activities is too strong, as players find themselves emptying entire magazines on a Weavewalking Warlock, only to deal mediocre damage.

The suspension coincides with the impending launch of the Crota's End raid in less than a week on September 1. It is possible that the Weavewalk Aspect may not be accessible in the upcoming raid due to time constraints for reworking. Interestingly, Bungie had previously disabled a Warlock Exotic before the launch of Destiny 2's Root of Nightmares raid.

During a recent showcase, Bungie provided a glimpse of what players can expect from the upcoming Destiny 2 The Final Shape DLC. The event confirmed that players will venture inside The Traveler to thwart The Witness's plans and also unveiled the game's future beyond the expansion. Additionally, three new Light Supers for Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans were announced, along with a new enemy type known as Subjugators. While rumors of a new Darkness subclass accompanying The Final Shape have circulated, there was no indication of this during the showcase.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
