During a recent appearance, Princess Kate showed a thoughtful gesture towards her fans. As a member of the royal family, she is not allowed to sign autographs. However, she came up with a kind alternative to offer as a souvenir.
During a surprise visit to the Chelsea Flower Show in London on May 22, the Princess of Wales was approached by a young fan requesting her autograph. The Duchess of Cambridge, unable to sign her name, delighted the 7-year-old girl named Ruby by drawing a flower for her instead. She continued her artistic efforts by drawing a tree and a pond for two other children. When questioned about her inability to sign autographs, the Duchess of Cornwall explained that it was due to a protocol that prohibits her from doing so and that her name is Catherine.
Royal family members avoid signing autographs for fans due to the possibility of their signatures being replicated. Instead, they occasionally opt for selfies as a safer option, although such instances are infrequent. Princess Kate recently posed for selfies with two admirers during a visit to Luton, England, while Kate and Prince William took photos with approximately 20 staff members and visitors during their initial joint appearance of the year at Liverpool University Hospital in January.
The royal family's website states that meeting a member of The Firm does not require specific codes of behavior, but many individuals prefer to follow traditional practices. The website outlines the appropriate protocol for bowing, curtsying, and addressing members of the royal family. Although King Charles III and Queen Camilla do not typically take selfies during greeting lines, they have been known to engage in lighthearted banter with fans at public events. During a visit to Colchester earlier this year, Camilla graciously accepted a Burger King crown from an onlooker and expressed her gratitude.
A fan presented the queen with a paper crown and she responded with gratitude, saying, "Oh, lovely, that's very kind of you. Burger King!" On a different occasion, a passerby offered the king his own Burger King crown, but Charles politely declined. After shaking hands with the fan, he replied, "That's for you, if you want it."
With a smile, the former Prince of Wales reassured the crowd, "I'm alright," as he made his way down the line. In a grand coronation ceremony held at Westminster Abbey on May 6, Charles was officially crowned as the new king. Among the attendees were Kate and William, accompanied by their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
"As the Coronation weekend came to a close, the sovereign expressed his gratitude on social media. He and his wife conveyed their sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making the occasion a truly special one. The sovereign paid tribute to the countless individuals who dedicated their time and effort to ensure that the festivities in London, Windsor, and beyond were safe, enjoyable, and memorable for all."
