In a cute snap, Bertinelli wrote, "I'll drink what you think and I'm high from smokin' your jokes all damn night ️ @therealhoarse."

Goodnough commented on Instagram that the couple looked happy.

The writer from the East Coast shared about his relationship with Bertinelli on his Substack, "Hoarse Whisperings," on April 17. He jokingly mentioned that the attention they are receiving can be a bit overwhelming.

Valerie Bertinelli revealed that she and her current partner, Jay Goodnough, reconnected through Instagram after initially connecting on the platform a few years ago. Following her divorce from Tom Vitale in 2022 and the passing of her first husband, Eddie Van Halen, in 2020, Bertinelli found solace in her conversations with Goodnough, as she shared with People magazine.

Their friendship blossomed into something more when they started talking on the phone. Bertinelli expressed how comfortable and right it felt to be with Goodnough, especially after finding joy in her life again. She also mentioned that her bond with him was familiar and brought a sense of happiness following a challenging period in her life.

Bertinelli confessed her feelings of love and humorously mentioned her previous plan of living happily with her six cats and dog for the rest of her life. She expressed contentment with being alone.

Thankfully, Goodnough is fond of cats as well. He posted a picture of himself with Bertinelli's cats, Henry and Bubba, on his Substack and commented on it.

"I am Valerie Bertinelli’s boyfriend… and that may well be among the most surreal sentences I’ve ever written. But it’s true… and our relationship feels anything but surreal," he shared on Substack. "It feels good, lucky, like a gift. Life can be wild, folks. It can throw challenges your way for years, bringing you to your knees... and then suddenly, it can shower you with love and clear skies. It's about cherishing someone, calling them 'Honey' because you adore them and are grateful for the gift of their presence."

Goodnough, who has a teenage son with his ex-wife, also joked about being known as Bertinelli’s mystery boyfriend for a period of time.

He posted a video on Instagram where he was watching a segment on Entertainment Tonight about their relationship. The video was captioned with: "When you enjoy being the 'mysterious boyfriend' but the media discovers your social media accounts." In the caption of the video, he wrote, "Well, I guess I can't stay anonymous anymore. So, um, hello... I suppose."
