Jamie Foxx issued a sincere apology on Instagram for sharing a social media message that was offensive, specifically directed towards the Jewish community. He expressed remorse for his choice of words and acknowledged the offense caused. Foxx further clarified that his intention was never to hurt or offend anyone.
He added, "Just to be clear, I was betrayed by someone I thought was a friend, and that's what I meant by 'they' - nothing more. I genuinely feel love and compassion for everyone, including the Jewish community. I sincerely apologize to anyone who was hurt or offended. ❤️❤️❤️"
The acclaimed actor concluded his message with, "Sending nothing but love, always. Jamie Foxx ❤️."
Foxx previously posted a shocking message on his Instagram on Friday, August 4. The message stated, "They killed this person named Jesus... What do you think they'll do to you???!" He also included hashtags like "Fake Friends" and "Fake Love." However, the post was eventually removed.
Even though Foxx removed the post from both his Instagram and Instagram Story, various social media users shared screenshots, condemning his comments as antisemitic. A Jewish-focused news organization called A Wider Frame captured an image where Jennifer Aniston appeared to have liked the note, leading to accusations of her supporting Foxx's beliefs.
Aniston, aged 54, took to her Instagram Story on Saturday to deny the allegations, stating, "This really makes me sick. I intentionally did not ‘like’ this post, nor did I accidentally do so. Moreover, I want to make it abundantly clear to my friends and anyone who may have been hurt by seeing this in their feeds — I do not endorse or support any form of antisemitism. Furthermore, I have zero tolerance for any kind of hatred. Period."
Foxx, on the other hand, continues to deal with the aftermath of an undisclosed medical complication he faced in April, amidst the social media controversy.
"I experienced something that I never thought I would have to go through. I am aware that many people were anticipating updates, but honestly, I didn't want you to see me in that state," he revealed in a sincere video on Instagram last month. "I prefer for you to see me happy, enjoying myself at parties, making jokes, working on movies and TV shows. I didn't want you to witness me hooked up to tubes, uncertain of whether I would survive."
Foxx expressed gratitude towards his doctors, his sister Deidra Dixon, and his daughters Corinne, 29, and Annalise, 14, stating that they played a significant role in his recovery. "Words cannot express how amazing it feels to have your family support you in this way, and they managed to keep everything confidential," he mentioned at the time. "They didn't reveal anything, they shielded me, and I hope that everyone could have such support during challenging times."
