Warning! This article contains spoilers for Ahsoka episode 7.
Summary
In Ahsoka episode 7, it becomes clear that Senator Xiono's frustrating and unlikeable demeanor is on full display as he persistently dismisses Hera's pleas and displays unwarranted confidence in the fake resurgence of Imperial remnants. Looking ahead in the Star Wars timeline, it is evident that Xiono will rise in influence and significance, ultimately succeeding in advocating for his home planet to be established as the capital of the New Republic.
However, Xiono ultimately suffers the worst fate of any politician as he loses all his power and influence when Starkiller Base destroys Hosnian Prime and the New Republic Senate, rendering him completely irrelevant.
Ahsoka episode 7 further portrays the frustrating nature of Senator Xiono, a character who will eventually face the consequences of his actions in the Star Wars timeline. We first meet Senator Xiono in Ahsoka episode 3, where Hera pleads her case to the New Republic Senate for help in stopping the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn with Ahsoka and Sabine. In this episode, Xiono's antagonistic behavior is evident as he often dismisses Hera's requests based on his own arrogance and unfounded confidence.
Xiono did not appear in episodes 4, 5, and 6 of Ahsoka. He made his latest appearance in the opening sequence of the most recent installment. By the end of episode 7, most viewers agreed that Xiono's actions were frustrating. He ignored Hera's pleas, underestimated the Imperial remnants, and showed disrespect towards an iconic droid from the original trilogy. As a result, Xiono became the most disliked character in Ahsoka so far. However, Star Wars fans need not worry, as Xiono will eventually face the consequences for his actions in the future.
Ahsoka's Senator Xiono Will Become Even More Important In The Short-Term...
Senator Xiono must first increase his influence and surpass his current importance in Ahsoka before he experiences his own downfall. Introduced in the animated show Star Wars Resistance, set before and during the sequel trilogy, Senator Xiono's journey is further explored in works such as Star Wars: Bloodline. These projects detail his rising influence in the Star Wars timeline, following Ahsoka's storyline.
Originally from Hosnian Prime, Senator Xiono later advocates for his homeworld to become the capital of the New Republic, instead of Coruscant. This endeavor proves successful, as confirmed by future Star Wars narratives. The transition of power to Xiono's home planet signifies his significant influence within the New Republic Senate and underscores his importance in the political landscape of Star Wars' post-Ahsoka era.
Senator Xiono Survives Hosnian Prime's Destruction
Despite Xiono's infuriating behavior in Ahsoka episode 7, it would be excessively harsh to wish for his demise during the destruction of Hosnian Prime in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. However, it has been confirmed that Senator Xiono survives the destruction of the Hosnian System by Starkiller Base, as revealed in the seventh episode of the Skywalker Saga. This confirmation is evident in Star Wars Resistance season 2, where his son, Kazuda "Kaz" Xiono, is included.
Following the devastation of Hosnian Prime and its neighboring planets, Senator Xiono contacts his son to inform him that their family has survived. Senator Xiono and the rest of his family were away from Hosnian Prime when it was destroyed. Nevertheless, Senator Xiono does face some consequences for his actions in Ahsoka through other means.
Xiono Faces The Worst Fate Of Any Politician
Xiono's plight is not tied to his personal life, but to his political one. With the devastation of Hosnian Prime, his power and influence in the New Republic Senate vanish. The Senate, along with his government, is obliterated, leaving his world in ruins. This catastrophic event renders Xiono irrelevant, making him the most unfortunate politician in both the real world and the Star Wars universe.
Starkiller Base's destruction not only annihilates Xiono's political base and connections but also eliminates any possibility of rebuilding the support he once had. The aftermath of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker remains uncertain, and it is unlikely that Xiono will regain his former status, even if Rey's New Jedi Order film sheds light on it. Despite his regrettable actions in Ahsoka episode 7, the outcome for Senator Xiono feels exceedingly severe, yet somewhat symbolic.
In Ahsoka episode 7, Xiono portrays a similar abuse of power as the accusation he made against Hera. By dismissing any potential resurgence of Imperial forces out of fear and dismissing all evidence as mere fairy tales, Xiono unknowingly condemns his Republic to suffer the same fate as the Republic in the prequel trilogy. Eventually, Xiono's refusal to heed the warnings about Imperial threats in the galaxy will ultimately lead to the rise of the First Order, the construction of Starkiller Base, and the complete destruction of Xiono's world, political foundation, and credibility.
New episodes of Ahsoka are released every Tuesday at 6pm PT / 9pm ET on Disney+.
