From the start, it was evident that Liko's pendant possessed remarkable powers. The appearance of the Black Rayquaza confirmed that the pendant was somehow connected to these Ancient Poké Balls. When Spinel stole the pendant, Liko's determination to retrieve it and safeguard the mysterious Pokémon resonated with the pendant, causing it to emit a bright glow and reveal its location. Despite the blinding light, Liko and Sprigatito successfully retrieved the pendant and utilized its radiance to summon another Ancient Poké Ball for aid: the colossal Arboliva.

Arboliva's power was so immense that Spinel's Umbreon urgently pleaded with him to flee, a warning that the villain took seriously. Interestingly, Arboliva didn't even need to attack in order to separate them from Spinel. Soon after, Liko, Dot, and Roy were seen floating away on Arboliva's buoyant, tree-like body. Eventually, Friede noticed their presence and brought them back to land, allowing the airship to finally depart from the area as they had planned for numerous episodes. Liko had gained Arboliva's trust after helping restore the forest, so it's not surprising that it was eager to repay the favor.

The fact that the Black Rayquaza immediately caused chaos and escaped indicates that simply possessing the Ancient Poké Ball isn't enough to control the creature inside. It wasn't a situation where Arboliva had no choice but to obey Liko's commands; rather, it willingly chose to assist her. This kind of allegiance is truly valuable, especially considering that Liko only has Sprigatito, a Pokémon still relatively inexperienced, to rely on. While Ash has had numerous encounters with legendary or rare and powerful Pokémon, he has never possessed this level of control over them.
