In Pokémon Horizons, the newest villain has devised a clever strategy to disable the heroes' airship using a group of ordinary Pokémon called Magneton. By utilizing multiple Magneton simultaneously, they generate a potent electromagnetic field that renders the ship's electronics useless, leaving the crew stranded.

Previously, Pokémon Horizons remained without a villain after Amethio's unsuccessful attempts to steal Liko's pendant resulted in his removal from the case. However, another character named Spinel was secretly assigned the mission and has remained unseen since their introduction several episodes ago. Unbeknownst to the crew, Spinel has been working behind the scenes, waiting for the opportune moment to strike. Exploiting the ship's vulnerability during a system reboot, Spinel has executed a well-planned assault that, for now, appears to be successful.

In this episode, Spinel approaches the airship as a large group of Magneton surround it from above, emitting electromagnetic signals. While this is a typical ability of Magneton, the intention here is to generate an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), capable of disabling or destroying electronic devices within its range. Although a single Magneton may not be able to cause significant damage to a large airship, a group strategically positioned throughout the ship could effectively disable all electronic control systems, preventing the crew from escaping.

Professor Friede, who is on board the airship, becomes aware of the situation when he realizes that the computer has not made any progress in rebooting. This method of attack is clever, as humans are unable to detect an EMP without specialized equipment, which the airship is unlikely to possess. It also serves as an illustration of how villains can benefit from bending or breaking the rules of Pokémon battling. In this case, nine Magneton are shown, surpassing the maximum limit of six Pokémon that a trainer is "allowed" to have. Though it may be unfair, the villain has a specific goal and is not expected to adhere to fair play.
