The release of Honkai: Star Rail has only heightened the fascination of fans with the HoYoverse multiverse. The game developer had already revealed that the universe of Star Rail was linked to those of Honkai Impact 3rd and Genshin Impact through the Imaginary Tree, the birthplace of universes and bubble worlds and the origin of life. While it was not necessary for fans to have played Honkai Impact to comprehend Star Rail, they found it intriguing that the same characters appeared in both games, albeit in different versions. Bronya Rand, a playable five-star Wind character from Belobog in Honkai: Star Rail, is one such character. She is an alternative version of Bronya Zaychik in Honkai Impact 3rd, who had numerous adaptations throughout the game's timeline. Aside from their similar appearances, both Bronyas share the same backstory of growing up in an orphanage and being adopted by Cocolia. Nevertheless, their lives took unique paths in their respective HoYoverse titles.
Bronya in Honkai: Star Rail and Honkai Impact 3rd Explained
Bronya Rand, the current Supreme Guardian and commander of the Silvermane Guards in Honkai: Star Rail, has an interesting backstory. Originally from an orphanage in Rivet Town, located in Belobog's Underworld, she was adopted by the former Supreme Guardian Cocolia Rand.
As a playable character, Bronya is known for her proficiency in using a rifle to shoot at enemies. She follows the Path of Harmony, making her a Wind-element support character who can boost her allies' damage (DMG) and critical damage (CRIT DMG). Players can obtain her by using a Star Rail Pass in the standard banner, or they may face her in a boss fight during the main story mission or in the Simulated Universe.
Bronya Zaychik's backstory in Honkai Impact 3rd is complex. She was initially a Russian orphan trained to assassinate Cocolia, a member of Anti-Entropy, but when she failed, Cocolia took her in and experimented on her. Bronya eventually gained the ability to use Honkai Energy, a dangerous radiation that can transform people into Honkai beasts. As a playable character, she has multiple skins that reflect her past and the upgrades made to her Valkyrie battlesuit, some of which also grant her unique skill sets such as Stealth Mode and DPS-focused abilities.
In contrast, we have Bronie, a version of Bronya donning the Haxxor Bunny battlesuit in the Captainverse. This refers to the continuity of Honkai Impact 3rd's event stories, which are separate from the game's mainline narrative. In Honkai: Star Rail, Bronie appears as Silver Wolf, the newest five-star banner character for Version 1.1. Other HoYoverse characters have also made appearances in various titles, each with unique storylines that add to the potential convergence of their universes in future updates or new games. It would be exciting to witness the interaction between the characters of Honkai: Star Rail, Genshin Impact, and Honkai Impact 3rd in such a scenario.
Only time will tell what HoYoverse has in store for the multiverse they're creating, but fans are already eagerly anticipating future developments. The hope is that the company will deliver a satisfying payoff for all the characters involved. In the meantime, Honkai: Star Rail is now accessible on Mobile and PC, with a PlayStation version currently in the works.
