The upcoming Ahsoka series will feature familiar faces from other Star Wars shows and movies. Characters from Star Wars Rebels, such as Grand Admiral Thrawn, Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren, and Ezra Bridger, will make their live-action debuts. Additionally, there is a possibility that deceased characters from previous titles may make appearances.
The narrative structure of Ahsoka is still unknown, but there are hints that events will occur before and after the epilogue of Rebels. Ahsoka, played by Rosario Dawson, and Sabine, played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, will embark on a quest to find Thrawn and Ezra. This journey will explore the history that led them to their current paths through flashbacks and the Force's ability to reveal new discoveries. Ahsoka has the potential to bring back eight characters from the dead through these means.
Anakin Skywalker
Hayden Christensen could potentially return to Ahsoka in several ways, the most likely being through his portrayal of Anakin Skywalker as a Force ghost. Anakin first appeared in this form at the end of Return of the Jedi, communicating with his son Luke Skywalker. Given this precedent, it is plausible that he could appear to his former Padawan as a spiritual guide. Throughout Star Wars Rebels, there were multiple moments where Ahsoka could have benefited from Anakin's guidance, but unfortunately, her only encounter was with the menacing Darth Vader.
Additionally, Christensen could also reprise his role as Anakin in flashback scenes, similar to his appearance during a training session with Obi-Wan Kenobi. Lucasfilm has the opportunity to showcase an important and previously unseen moment between the Jedi Knight and his student, a lesson that guides Ahsoka towards success. This moment doesn't necessarily have to be a battle from the Clone Wars; it could instead be a training session, like the one depicted in Tales of the Jedi episode 5. While there is a risk of it feeling repetitive, even a brief interaction between Anakin and Ahsoka would offer a profound insight into Ahsoka's mindset.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
There are various possibilities for Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi to make a return in the Ahsoka series, similar to Anakin Skywalker. One option is to showcase a flashback during a battle from the Clone Wars, where Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan could be seen leading alongside Anakin as one of the generals. This would provide an exciting live-action sequence featuring McGregor and Christensen, and their presence would be significant to Ahsoka's storyline. Additionally, Obi-Wan was one of Ahsoka's esteemed mentors, alongside Anakin, so there could be a lesson that she remembers him teaching her.
Another way Obi-Wan could appear is as a Force ghost. While his Force ghost was portrayed as the Sir Alec Guinness version in the original trilogy, his appearance could be altered to align better with the Obi-Wan that Ahsoka was familiar with, namely the McGregor version. In Return of the Jedi, Anakin's ghost appeared twenty-five years younger than his present age, so it is feasible for Obi-Wan's appearance to shift accordingly. It is important to note that Ahsoka and Obi-Wan did not cross paths again after the downfall of the Jedi Order, making her last sighting of him likely during the events of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.
Kanan Jarrus
Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus could make appearances in flashbacks alongside either Ahsoka or his Padawan, Ezra Bridger. It would be heartfelt to witness the entire Ghost crew in live-action, and Kanan's presence would likely be a significant moment for Ezra. Moreover, in Rebels, Ezra and Ahsoka were able to enter the World Between Worlds, which is expected to play a role in the Ahsoka series. If they were to revisit the World Between Worlds, they would have the opportunity to observe past events. Ezra previously saved Ahsoka from her confrontation with Darth Vader in the finale of Rebels season 2, so a different significant moment from their pasts could be highlighted.
In addition to that, Kanan could also appear in flashbacks featuring any of the Ghost crew members. Hera Syndulla was Kanan's partner for a decade, and they eventually became parents to their son, Jacen, so she might reflect on their shared memories while contemplating the uncertain future for Jacen. Although Freddie Prinze Jr. has claimed that Lucasfilm has exhausted their favors for Kanan cameos, it is not uncommon for Star Wars actors to deceive and mislead regarding surprise roles.
Yoda
Plo Koon
Jedi Master Yoda played a crucial role as a mentor to both Ahsoka and Ezra, being able to manifest as a Force Ghost for either of them. Prior to his passing, Yoda made a significant appearance to Ezra at the Jedi Temple on Lothal, bestowing upon him his first kyber crystal as a symbolic initiation into the Jedi path. Furthermore, Yoda has also made subsequent Force ghost appearances in "Return of the Jedi" and "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," and he would willingly manifest himself again if he senses that either Ahsoka or Ezra requires his wise guidance.
Jedi Master Plo Koon shared a profound bond with Ahsoka, being the one responsible for her introduction to the Jedi Temple during her early days. Due to this, he always kept a watchful eye on her and lovingly referred to her as "little 'Soka." An intriguing prospect arises if the former Jedi contemplates joining Luke's Order - a potential flashback depicting Ahsoka and Plo Koon during her time as a youngling or Padawan.
Padme Amidala
Padme Amidala had a significant impact on Ahsoka and their friendship was deeply valued. If there were to be a flashback featuring the senator, it could serve as a means to showcase the dynamic relationship that Ahsoka observed between Padme and Anakin once again. Alternatively, Padme might make a brief appearance if the Ahsoka series decides to revisit her funeral, a poignant moment that Ahsoka attended in Tales of the Jedi. While Natalie Portman has expressed that she hasn't been approached to rejoin the Star Wars franchise, she is eager to reprise her role as Padme.
Bail Organa
Bail Organa played a crucial role in Ahsoka's life following the Clone Wars. In Tales of the Jedi, it was revealed that he was the one who successfully persuaded her to join the fight against the Empire, adopting the codename Fulcrum. As a prominent figure within the Rebel Alliance, Organa could potentially make appearances in flashbacks depicting Ahsoka's time as a dedicated rebel operative. Given Hera Syndulla's position as a general for the Alliance, if there were to be a flashback highlighting her early development of military strategies, Organa would be a strong candidate for inclusion.
The 501st
The 501st Legion, led by Anakin Skywalker, held a special place in Ahsoka's heart. They treated her like family and earned her respect, which made their unwilling betrayal during Order 66 even more tragic. Unfortunately, all the clones on Ahsoka's Republic Venator perished in a crash following the Siege of Mandalore, except for Captain Rex, with whom Ahsoka managed to escape and maintain contact. If any flashbacks occur during the Clone Wars, it is natural for the 501st to play a significant role.
Ahsoka has the opportunity to share a deeply personal story that has far-reaching consequences for the galaxy. This opens up possibilities for a deeper exploration of the Force and the potential return of old friends who were once thought to be gone. It is likely that Ahsoka's story will take some unconventional turns, often leading to the appearance of deceased Star Wars characters.
