Morgan Wallen's recent arrest has caused concern at the University of Mississippi.

Wallen, who is 30 years old, was scheduled to perform at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Saturday, April 20. However, following his arrest in Nashville on Sunday, April 7, for reportedly throwing a chair over a balcony, university officials are bracing themselves for the potential of the event being canceled.

Ole Miss athletics director Keith Carter informed SuperTalk Mississippi Media via email that they are aware of the situation, but no changes have been communicated to them yet. He mentioned that they are closely monitoring everything.

Wallen had previously canceled a show scheduled for April 2023 at the Mississippi venue just minutes before he was supposed to perform. Despite speculation that he was out partying before the show, he stated on Instagram that he needed to rest his voice as per doctor's orders. Following this, concert attendee Brandi Burcham filed a class action lawsuit.

In court documents, it was mentioned that concertgoers have not been offered reimbursement for additional expenses such as transportation, lodging, food, merchandise, and fees despite ticket refunds being provided.

The lawsuit, which was obtained by us, was dismissed without prejudice soon after it was filed. Wallen's representative informed us that refunds were processed by the venue and will be credited to customers' accounts within the standard 3-5 days timeframe.

Concerns are arising that the country artist Morgan Wallen may cancel his appearance at Ole Miss for the second time. This comes after it was confirmed on Monday, April 8, that Wallen was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. These charges stemmed from an alleged incident at fellow musician Eric Church’s Chief’s Bar on Sunday.

Wallen's lawyer, Worrick Robinson, stated to Us that Wallen was arrested at 10:53 pm on Sunday evening in downtown Nashville for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. Robinson also mentioned that Wallen is fully cooperating with the authorities.

Metro Nashville police officers were outside Chief’s Bar when a chair fell from above, landing near them. According to Metro Nashville PD, employees at the bar said Wallen threw the chair from six stories up.

After viewing a video of the incident, officers saw Wallen lunging and throwing an object over the roof. Wallen's bond was set at $15,250, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, May 3.

Wallen has a history of sparking controversy. In May 2020, he was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct outside Kid Rock’s Nashville Bar, Big Honky Tonk. However, he was later cleared of all charges.

After a night out with some old friends downtown, Wallen explained that they were playfully roughhousing after a few bar stops. He emphasized that they meant no harm and expressed apologies to any bar staff or individuals who may have been affected.

In October, he was uninvited from performing as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live because he broke the show's COVID-19 rules while out one night.

He admitted on Instagram, "I don't have COVID, but what I did last weekend was not smart. It's going to have a negative impact on my future goals and dreams. I understand why the show had to make this decision because I put them at risk. I take responsibility for my actions."

Wallen appeared on SNL just two months later. However, he faced further backlash in February 2021 after videos of him using the N-word surfaced. In the wake of the scandal, his record label suspended him indefinitely and The Academy of Country Music announced that Wallen’s second album, Dangerous: The Double Album, would be ineligible for the 56th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

Subsequently, Wallen issued an apology video asking his fans not to defend him and mentioned that he had been invited by the Nashville chapter of the NAACP to meet and discuss his use of the racial slur.

In a video, he expressed gratitude for the grace and opportunity to learn and grow that he received from others when he was down, acknowledging that they could have treated him poorly but chose to show kindness instead.

Following his recent arrest, news surfaced that Wallen's ex-fiancée, Katie "KT" Smith, had married Luke Scornavacco shortly after their engagement was announced, with whom they share a 3-year-old son named Indigo.
