Morgan Wallen has garnered as much attention for his personal controversies as he has for his successful country music career. However, beyond the spotlight, the talented artist is also a father to his son, Indigo Wilder. He welcomed his baby boy in July 2020, a year after his split from his ex-girlfriend KT Smith, whom he had been in a relationship with from 2017 to 2019.
"Little Wilder, my perspective on life has completely changed since you entered the world on Friday. It's no longer just about me; I'm grateful for that. As I announced your birth on Instagram, I realized that I now have a responsibility to be the father you deserve and the co-parent your mother deserves. Your arrival has made me realize that every decision I make will be influenced by you. I promise to always protect you and strive to be a positive role model, just like my own father was for me.
As the singer of "Whiskey Glasses," I must admit that I was a little scared about becoming a dad. However, it's the most incredible feeling, and I'm ready to embrace whatever plans God has in store for me and my little boy."
Smith expressed her overwhelming joy for their newborn in a heartfelt social media post right after Indie was born. Alongside pictures of her and her baby at the hospital, she wrote, "Yesterday was an absolute bliss...️ Indie Wilder, you are the ultimate answer to your mama's prayers and the most adorable little human I have ever seen."
In June 2023, Smith garnered attention as she disclosed that her dog, Legend, had bitten Indie, their son, resulting in the need for stitches on his face. Smith shared this incident through her Instagram Story, reassuring that Indie would recover well and his scar would be minimal despite having stitches.
After the incident, Smith expressed her intention to find a new home for the puppy. This decision faced criticism from some of her followers who disagreed with her reasoning.
"I cannot be a responsible mother if I keep a dog in the house while my child is also traumatized, most likely because of that incident," she explained. "I cannot be a good dog owner by keeping a muzzle on him, and as a mother, it is my priority to ensure my child feels safe and comfortable at home, not scared of the dog. To be a mother means prioritizing the well-being of your child and finding a suitable home for the dog before reintroducing them into our household. As a dog owner, my goal is to find the best possible environment where the dog can thrive, preferably without the presence of children."
