In the realm of Tears of the Kingdom, gamers have honed their skills in crafting awe-inspiring aerial machines through the game's dynamic building mechanics. Among these creations is a remarkable aircraft capable of swiftly traversing the skies at speeds exceeding 200 miles per hour.
The player achieved this incredible speed by utilizing a combination of the lightest known component and a free-floating fan. However, the recent game update fixed the glitched Steering Stick, making it impossible to replicate this design in the current version of the game.
One talented player of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has successfully constructed an extraordinary aircraft that can reach speeds exceeding 200 miles per hour. This innovative creation adds to the ever-expanding collection of fighter jets, helicopters, and other remarkable aircraft that the game's fanbase has pioneered thus far.
Given the immense scale of Tears of the Kingdom's map and the game's adaptable building mechanics, it comes as no surprise that numerous fans have been honing their engineering abilities by experimenting with various airplane designs since the franchise's latest installment became available for purchase on May 12. After all, flying proves to be an incredibly efficient means of traversing the world of Hyrule, and the game generously provides an abundance of building materials to fuel players' creativity.
However, among fans, only a few have achieved the same level of success in taking to the skies as Reddit user chesepuf. Recently, they have created an aircraft that may look funny but is undeniably impressive, surpassing the intended speed of in-game vehicles in Nintendo. The tail of their plane is made from the lightweight guard rail found in the Construct Factory, which defies gravity. Yet, the most crucial component is the detached fan, which is cleverly positioned in the front-loaded slates. Remarkably, the fan is not subject to Newton's third law due to the peculiar behavior of Zonai devices in the game. By confining the fan and allowing it to push its surroundings while sustaining itself, the player was able to achieve a speed of 90 meters per second or over 201 miles per hour. This determination was made by analyzing the rate of change in the mini-map coordinates shown in the recently shared footage of the aircraft in action. Despite the fact that reaching half of this speed would typically cause Link to lose control, the player skillfully evaded this issue by employing a glitched Steering Stick that remains unaffected by it.
However, as the faulty device no longer has the capability to control vehicles, the inventor ingeniously added an additional Steering Stick to the front of the plane to enable remote piloting. To further enhance maneuverability, a second fan was also installed at the rear. The glitch known as the "ultrabroken stick" was addressed and resolved by Nintendo in the Tears of the Kingdom update 1.2.0 in July. Therefore, players who are using an updated version of the game will not be able to replicate this design.
This intriguing creation is not the initial clever aircraft that has been developed by the Zelda fandom in recent times. The credit for that goes to another Tears of the Kingdom player who constructed an absurd flyer powered by NPCs during the first weekend of October.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now on Nintendo Switch.
