Master the Art of the Gerudo Scimitar in Tears of the Kingdom

To obtain the powerful Scimitar of the Seven in Tears of the Kingdom, players must first acquire a Gerudo Scimitar These rare weapons are scattered throughout the game world and are essential for unlocking the full potential of Urbosa's legendary weapon Explore carefully and keep an eye out for hidden locations where these prized blades can be found

The surface of Hyrule and the weapons that Link collects in Breath of the Wild have both been changed by the Upheaval in Tears of the Kingdom. Unfortunately, most weapons that Link finds are now decayed, including equipment required for obtaining the Champions' Weapons. One such item is the Gerudo Scimitar.

Located only in the Wastelands of Hyrule, finding the Gerudo Scimitar can be a daunting task due to the vast expanse to cover. Additionally, most Gerudo Scimitars in Tears of the Kingdom are confined to treasure chests with randomized loot, making it impossible to guarantee obtaining one.

There are several ways to obtain a Gerudo Scimitar on the Surface in Tears of the Kingdom. Two of them can be found in the Ancient Prison Ruins of Palu Wasteland, while another can be found in Gerudo Town. Additionally, Gerudo Scimitars can be obtained from treasure chests dropped by Moldugas. It is important to note that any Gerudo Scimitar found by Link will already be in a decayed state, but he can fuse them with other weapons to increase their durability.

It is highly recommended to finish the Lightning Temple prior to pursuing a Gerudo Scimitar. This will result in the desert becoming clearer and the map being visible, as long as Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower has been activated. Additionally, players must assist Riju in Gerudo Town.

The simplest method to obtain a Gerudo Scimitar is through embarking on the Riju of the Gerudo quest. To start, players must sneak into the Gerudo Shelter by accessing the waterways located beneath Gerudo Town (-3875, -2864, 0043). The waterway can be entered from -3792, 2903, 0043, which is near the north gate. Follow the letters found in the bottles and climb up into the room from where they are being dropped.

Upon locating Riju at the North Gerudo Ruins (-3769, -2646, 0032), players will eventually have to defend Gerudo Town from the Gibdos. If players navigate to the left wing of the palace, they will come across a Gerudo woman who has various supplies that Link can use for the upcoming battle. Among the weapons found on the weapon rack are several Gerudo Scimitars.

Another way to acquire Gerudo Scimitars is by farming them from Moldugas.

The recommended method to obtain a Gerudo Scimitar is by defeating the Molduga found at the Toruma Dunes (-4658, -2834, 0039). It is advisable to complete the Lightning Temple before attempting this, as the fight will be much easier to navigate. On the first successful attempt at Toruma Ruins, the player will rescue Isha, the manager of the Gerudo Town's jewelry store, upon defeating the Molduga.

To defeat the Molduga, it is best to lure it out of the sand by catching its attention. The player can achieve this by shooting an arrow into the ground. Once the Molduga jumps out of the sand, shoot a bomb flower-arrow at it. This will stun the Molduga for a brief period, allowing Link to deliver some melee weapon strikes.

Once defeated, the Molduga will yield a plethora of valuable monster parts along with one or two chests. Though there is only a slight possibility that the chest may contain a Gerudo Scimitar, it is still worth the effort as it may also contain a Gerudo Shield or any other weapon. It is important to note that just like any other monster, Moldugas will reappear during a Blood Moon, giving players another chance at defeating them.

The Ancient Prison Ruins situated in Palu Wasteland

To obtain two Gerudo Scimitars, players can visit the Ancient Prison Ruins. To reach the ruins, Link must jump into a quicksand pit located in the Palu Wasteland at coordinates -3067, -3063, 0075. At the end of the ruins, players will find a Shrine.

To start, players should move the switch in order to open the gate. Moving down the hall, use Riju's Ability to easily defeat Gibdos. At the second switch, the Gerudo Scimitar can be found in the prison cell on the left, buried in the sand and highlighted with Ultrahand.

The second Gerudo Scimitar can be found in a chest. However, the lever in this area will not open the gate. Therefore, players will need to use Ultrahand to move the flooring across from the room with the first Gerudo Scimitar. After jumping down, players can enter another room by crouching below the bars. Climbing up some fallen ruins at coordinates -3186, -3116, -0043 will lead to the second Gerudo Scimitar.

Once the floor begins to give way, Link will find himself back on the lowest level. Keep an eye out for the statue that is pointing its sword towards the Shrine. Once you arrive at the Shrine's entrance, use Ascend to make your way to the room where the Gerudo Scimitar is stored.

The Gerudo Scimitar's Usage

If players have successfully rescued Isha from the Molduga at the Toruna Ruins, they will have the opportunity to speak with her outside the jewelry store by the north gate in Gerudo Town. As a token of appreciation for Link's assistance, Isha offers to craft him the Scimitar of the Seven and Daybreaker, which were both previously wielded by Champion Urbosa. However, obtaining the necessary materials for these weapons can be a costly and challenging endeavor, just like the other Champions' Weapons. To craft these legendary weapons, players will need a Gerudo Scimitar (either decayed or regular), a Gerudo Shield, four Diamonds, and ten Flint. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available on Nintendo Switch.
