The History of One Piece

One Piece originated as a manga written by Eiichiro Oda. It chronicles the journey of Monkey D. Luffy, a young man with aspirations of becoming the Pirate King. The manga primarily revolves around Luffy's escapades alongside his crew, The Straw Hat Pirates, as they scour the seas in pursuit of the fabled treasure known as the "One Piece." Weekly Shonen Jump first serialized this manga back in May 1997, approximately 26 years ago. Since its inception, it has emerged as the top-selling and most celebrated manga worldwide. The manga remains ongoing, rightly earning the title of not only the best-selling manga of all time but also one of the lengthiest.

The One Piece anime, produced by Toei Animation, made its debut in October 1999. The inaugural season encompassed 61 episodes and concluded in March 2001. At present, the anime consists of 20 seasons and boasts a staggering 1,000+ episodes. In honor of the anime's 25th anniversary, it has been announced that the One Piece YouTube channel will continuously stream the anime for an entire year. The highly anticipated live-action version of One Piece premiered on Netflix on August 31 of this year.
