The Return of CP9: Their New Role in One Piece

The CP9 holds immense significance in the One Piece universe. First introduced during the Water 7 saga, this group was revealed to be a specialized unit of the Cipher Pol intelligence agency serving the World Government. Their primary expertise was in the field of assassination, complemented by their information-gathering capabilities. Their mission in Water 7 was to infiltrate the Galley La Company and retrieve the blueprints of Pluton, one of the Ancient Weapons.

Although the CP9 had initially clashed with the Straw Hat Pirates, they later receded into the background. However, in recent chapters, the former members of CP9 have become more active than ever before.

The fate of these former CP9 members remains to be seen.

The CP9 had a significant role in the Enies Lobby arc, where they were properly introduced to the fans. In Enies Lobby, their mission was to bring Nico Robin to the Gates of Justice and to destroy the Straw Hat Pirates. Despite being trained specialists in martial arts, they couldn't overcome the Straw Hat Pirates led by Luffy. Even Lucci, the strongest of CP9, was defeated by Luffy, resulting in the CP9's downfall.

After their defeat, the CP9 fled from the Marines and found refuge on a nearby island where they raised funds to help the wounded. Eventually, the Marines stopped chasing them and the Cipher Pol was taken back by the Government. Despite their defeat, the CP9 remains an important part of the story, particularly in the Final Saga of One Piece.

After the timeskip, the former members of CP9 have resurfaced as CP0 members, indicating a possible promotion. This was confirmed during the Dressrosa arc when Lucci appeared, showcasing his increased strength and status as one of the World Government's strongest members. The CP0's prominence continued to grow in the Wano Country arc, where Kaku was revealed as another member. In the Egghead Island arc, both Lucci and Kaku displayed their impressive fighting abilities once again when they faced off against Luffy and Zoro. Eventually, they even joined forces with the Straw Hat Pirates to battle against the Seraphims.

With the appearance of Lucci and Zorro, many One Piece fans were left wondering if they were the only members promoted to CP0. As former members of CP9, they were undoubtedly the most skilled. However, in One Piece Film: Red, fans were delighted to learn that there are indeed more members of CP0. Blueno and Kalifa have now been confirmed as part of this elite group. It seems that their new role as CP0 members brings with it even greater responsibility and challenges.

In One Piece 1083, fans were treated to the sight of the former CP9 members, who are now revealed to be part of the CP0. This includes all members such as Fukuro, Kalifa, Blueno, and Jabra, among others. Although they were present in the Holy Land of Marijoa where the Revolutionary Army Commanders were fighting the Admirals, they did not participate in the battle. However, they did comment on the impressive display of the Revolutionary Army Commanders, who were able to match the Admirals despite being at a disadvantage.

With the former CP9 members now part of the CP0, it is only a matter of time before they gain more importance within the World Government. In the Final War, fans can expect them to fight on the side of the Government, which means that old enemies such as Lucci and the Straw Hat crew may cross paths once again. While these clashes may not be significant, it will be interesting to see how far the characters have come since their previous encounters.

Interestingly, the newly introduced members of the CP0 were not seen wearing masks, which was previously believed to be a sign of their high strength. However, this may not necessarily be the case as Lucci and Kaku were also introduced without masks in the Holy Land of Marijoa. It is possible that the majority of the CP0 members within Marijoa choose not to wear masks. Given that Jabra and Kaku are both strong, it is highly likely that the former CP9 members are also masked members of the CP0.
