Bogard’s Involvement In The Series

Initially, it may appear perplexing that Vice Admiral Bogard is serving as the right-hand man to another Vice Admiral. However, this is merely a ceremonial arrangement because Garp was actually intended to be a marine Admiral for quite some time. During the tenure of former Fleet Commander Kong, Garp was presented with the opportunity to ascend to the rank of Admiral, with Bogard present in the same room. Nonetheless, he declined the offer and departed the office alongside Bogard to join Sengoku, who was headed to the New World due to reports of an imminent clash between Shiki and Roger.

While Bogard was not directly involved in the events that transpired with Garp and Kong, it is reasonable to assume he might have participated in the subsequent battle. Furthermore, despite arriving after the conflict had concluded, Bogard accompanied esteemed individuals such as Sengoku and Garp while still holding the rank of Vice Admiral. Therefore, it is only logical to assume that he is capable of defending himself in combat.

As mentioned earlier, Bogard made his first appearance in chapter 92 of the manga and episode 68 of the anime. His involvement came about when the Marines charged with securing Morgan, Helmeppo's father, were supposed to hand him over to Vice Admiral Garp for trial at the Marine Headquarters. However, the exchange didn't go as planned. While Garp was asleep, Morgan escaped, taking Helmeppo hostage and fleeing on a small ship.

In response, Bogard ordered the Marine members to fire shots at the small ship, but Koby intervened, pointing a gun at the firing cannon to protect Helmeppo. With lightning speed, Bogard sliced Koby's gun into pieces, leaving him speechless. Helmeppo then made the difficult decision to abandon his father and swim back to the ship. This event brought the two young Marines under the guidance of Vice Admiral Garp.

Could Bogard Play A Role In The Future?

In the Egghead arc, Garp embarked on a mission to save Koby, who had been captured by Blackbeard, in Hachinosu. On the rescue ship, notable marine figures like Helmeppo and Bogard joined Garp. Despite the obstacles faced by the rescue team, including the relentless efforts of the Blackbeard Pirates to hinder Garp's mission, there was limited participation from the other individuals on the ship.

Observing Bogard's actions from a wider perspective, it would be reasonable to assume that this would have been an ideal opportunity for him to assist Garp, someone he is loyal to. However, it is evident that Bogard remained on the ship throughout the rescue operation, without any visible involvement.

Assuming Bogard is Garp's trusted assistant, it is logical to expect him to possess significant strength, given Garp's own capabilities. Furthermore, one could infer that Garp, who trained Kuzan and battled on equal footing with Roger, would expect his right-hand man to surpass the average marine in strength.

While it remains uncertain, fans are free to speculate on Bogard potentially being an exceptional marine.
