Quantum, one of the elements in Honkai: Star Rail, has had a limited presence since its release. So far, there is only one 4-star character, Qingque, available in the standard banner, and a popular character, Seele, featured in the first limited-time event banner. It is worth noting that Quantum is currently the only element without a standard 5-star character. However, the game's version 1.1 update will introduce Silver Wolf, indicating the potential addition of more Quantum characters in the future. One confirmed character is Fu Xuan, who is expected to belong to the Preservance path.
In Honkai: Star Rail, Quantum is recognized for its convenient Weakness Break type, thanks to the Entanglement effect. This effect causes a delay in the enemy's action once their toughness bar is depleted, giving players an advantage in the battle's action order priority. Including a Quantum character in a team composition can be advantageous in specific battle scenarios, as long as players have access to these characters. It is important to consider the distinct roles of Quantum characters when comparing them, as they possess unique abilities that can give them an edge over others.
4 Qingque
Qingque, the only 4-star Quantum character in existence, can be obtained by completing Stage 3 of Forgotten Hall. In the early stages of the game, Qingque is likely to be the first, and possibly the only, Quantum character that players have access to. As an Erudition character, Qingque possesses both single target and AoE damage-dealing abilities, but her enhanced damage is dependent on luck.
Qingque's playstyle centers around drawing and matching 4-tiles, which boosts the damage of her Basic ATK. This gives her a significant potential for dealing damage, especially when players obtain her later Eidolons. However, if players have unfortunate luck, Qingque can be costly in terms of skill points and turns until she unlocks her Enhanced basic attack. This drawback affects her overall DPS output.
3 Fu Xuan
Fu Xuan, the head of the divination commission in The Xianzhou Luofu during the Trailblazer Quest, remains a mysterious figure with limited information available. However, the developers of Honkai: Star Rail have already introduced her, suggesting that her appearance in the game will not be delayed. As a Quantum character, Fu Xuan follows the Preservation path, emphasizing a defensive playstyle as her primary role.
While specific details about her gameplay kit may still change, it is anticipated that Fu Xuan will be a limited 5-star character. Unlike the current Preservation characters who scale with the DEF stat, she is expected to primarily rely on the HP stat for her scaling. While this may give her certain advantages over other options, players might still find value in utilizing other Preservation characters in their team compositions instead of Fu Xuan. However, it is too early to determine this definitively, as the developers may incorporate a unique benefit into her kit upon her release.
2 Silver Wolf
Silver Wolf joins the Honkai: Star Rail roster as a Nihility character, specializing in debuffing enemies by applying DEF-reducing and All Type Res debuffs. What sets her apart is her unique ability to exploit weaknesses in opponents based on the player's team roster. Incorporating Silver Wolf into the party can provide significant advantages in various team compositions.
However, it is important to consider that Silver Wolf may not currently reach her full potential due to the current state of the game and character availability. She is a character who is likely to demonstrate her true value in the future. Her greatest advantage lies in her ability to enable mono-team compositions regardless of the content and enemy weaknesses. Presently, only Lightning and Imaginary types, with the introduction of Luocha, can typically form a complete mono team. Furthermore, unless the enemy already possesses a Quantum weakness, Silver Wolf may still apply a Quantum weakness instead of the desired element. Thus, her utility is best realized in a full Quantum team, which is currently not effectively achievable, although she can still synergize well with a character like Seele. It is also worth noting that her DEF-reducing debuff is only slightly higher than that of Pela, a 4-star character, so she may not be essential solely for that purpose as it is not a unique ability.
1 Seele
Seele stands out as the most powerful character in terms of single-target damage in the current state of the game, especially in her Hunt path. She is incredibly versatile and can easily fit into different team compositions, as she synergizes well with many support characters and doesn't rely on any special gimmicks in her abilities. Seele's strength lies in her overall high stats, particularly her speed, and her impressive damage modifiers, especially on her Ultimate skill.
What sets Seele apart is her ability to move forward after defeating an enemy, allowing her to unleash multiple attacks in a single turn. This makes her incredibly effective in both farming situations and challenging boss battles. Even against enemies that are not weak to Quantum damage, players who are fortunate enough to have Seele will still find her to be a formidable force due to her immense damage potential. Equipping her with the 4-piece Genius of Brilliant relic set further enhances her capabilities, as it provides her with one of the best 4-set bonuses in the game. This bonus allows her attacks to ignore a portion of the enemy's defense, giving her a significant advantage in terms of damage output compared to other Hunt characters.
Honkai: Star Rail is now available on Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation version is in development.
