Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have gotten to a better place since their split — but can the same be said for her relationship with his extended family?
Turner, 27, and Priyanka Chophra Jonas are no longer following each other on Instagram. However, Turner still follows Joe, 34, and his brothers, Kevin Jonas, Nick Jonas and Franklin Jonas, as well as Kevin's wife, Danielle Jonas. Additionally, she follows Joe's mom, Denise.
Before her breakup with Joe, Turner, Chopra Jonas, 41, and Danielle, 37, were collectively known as the "J Sisters." Kevin, 35, was the first of the Jonas Brothers to settle down when he tied the knot with Danielle in 2009, and the couple has since welcomed two daughters. Meanwhile, Nick, 31, and Chopra Jonas got married in 2018 and recently became parents to their daughter, Malti, in 2022.
After their 2019 wedding, Joe found love and started a family with Turner, welcoming their daughters Willa, aged 3, and Delphine, aged 14 months. Nick expressed his delight in how their partners seamlessly integrated into their family dynamic, describing it as a dream come true that their wives and fiancée bonded so well.
Joe and Turner announced their divorce in September after four years of marriage. They released a joint statement on Instagram, stating that they mutually decided to end their marriage amicably. While there have been various rumors surrounding their split, they emphasized that it was a united decision and requested privacy for themselves and their children.
Turner and Joe's situation became complicated when Turner filed a lawsuit against him the following month. According to court documents, she claimed that Joe was unlawfully keeping their children in New York City despite their supposed agreement to establish England as their permanent residence. The actress also accused her estranged husband of having the children's passports and preventing them from being returned or traveling abroad. In response, Joe's representative released a statement refuting the allegations.
“This unfortunate legal disagreement pertains to the end of a marriage. The use of the term 'abduction' is both misleading and a significant misuse of the legal system. It is important to clarify that the children were not abducted,” stated a representative to Us. “For the past three months, the children have been under Joe's care, as agreed upon by both parties. However, Sophie is now making this claim to relocate the divorce proceedings to the U.K. and permanently remove the children from the U.S."
After several days of mediation, Joe and Turner have reached a settlement in their custody battle. According to legal documents obtained by Us, they have agreed to alternate custody of their daughters until January 7, 2024, and take turns observing Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The documents also state that both parents are allowed to travel with the girls between the U.S. and England.
