Mia Thornton and her husband, Gordon Thornton, have decided to end their 11-year marriage. "Despite the inevitable challenges that all marriages face, Gordon and I have reached a point of separation," stated the 38-year-old star of The Real Housewives of Potomac. "My family is my top priority, and I am fully dedicated to ensuring our well-being. We kindly request that our privacy be respected as we navigate this process and find our way forward."
Mia and Gordon, who are both 70, got married in March 2012 after meeting in 2003. They have two children together: an 8-year-old son named Jeremiah Carter and a 6-year-old daughter named Juliana. Additionally, both Mia and Gordon have one child each from previous relationships.
It appears that the couple's marital problems will be showcased on the eighth season of RHOP. The recently released official trailer on September 28 hinted at a potential divorce between Mia and Gordon. In the trailer, Mia disclosed that she had previously consulted a divorce attorney during a challenging period in their marriage. She also suggested to her costar Ashley Darby that she may have married Gordon because of his financial success.
Before her separation from Gordon, Mia had a health scare in the previous year. Making news in February 2022, she revealed that she was undergoing cancer tests.
"Last week at the same time, Doc reached out to Mia via Instagram in February 2022 with the news that her test results were in. He informed her that she needed to go to Johns Hopkins Cancer Center for further evaluation. The emotional toll on Mia and her partner G was immense as they tried to comprehend the reason behind this devastating news. Surprisingly, despite the terrible diagnosis, Mia felt an overwhelming sense of peace and strength that enabled her to stay resilient. She did not reveal the specific type of cancer she was battling at that time, but she mentioned undergoing daily consultations with specialists to determine her treatment plan."
