Upcoming Dead by Daylight changes in the Public Test Beta have fans worried, particularly about the potential downgrade that could affect Sadako, one of the game's killers

Highlights

Concerns for Sadako's Future in Dead by Daylight Rise as Latest PTB Alterations Pose Threat to Her Viability.

Sadako, a prominent killer in the game, finds herself facing an uncertain future due to the recent changes implemented in Dead by Daylight's Public Test Build (PTB). These alterations have the potential to significantly diminish her effectiveness, making it easier for survivors to evade her deadly clutches.

The rework's negative reception among fans necessitates the implementation of more positive adjustments.

Dead by Daylight's most recent playable test beta has sparked significant concerns regarding the future of a beloved killer. While the changes introduced during the PTB phase are not set in stone, they do provide insight into the developers' intentions for a killer, perk, or mechanic. It is natural to refine older elements to ensure the game continues to evolve and remain engaging, preventing older characters and perks from becoming outdated. However, this process is far from flawless. If some of Dead by Daylight's proposed PTB changes are implemented, they could potentially have dire consequences for one particular killer.

One good example of a rework would be

's popularity and utility in the game Dead by Daylight. There are still other killers that fans are eagerly waiting to see reworks for, particularly to enhance the abilities of weaker killers. The Player Test Build (PTB) plays a crucial role in allowing players to test these changes before they are officially implemented.

Sadako's position among the killers is far from desirable. She was introduced to Dead by Daylight in a crossover event, where she joined forces with an adult version of Yoichi from Ringu. As a strategic killer, Sadako's primary abilities include demanifesting to attain stealth, teleporting through TVs, and having the ability to instantly kill any survivor who becomes fully Condemned. However, her power in chases is significantly lacking, and Condemned is highly unreliable without a specific setup. Although Sadako is finally receiving a rework in the latest PTB, the community's response to her changes has been overwhelmingly negative.

The changes implemented in the PTB have the potential to completely ruin Sadako's effectiveness in the game. Michael Myers' abilities in Dead by Daylight prove how deadly an instant kill is, resulting in a necessary adjustment to Sadako's Condemn mechanic. Now, when Sadako teleports, she gradually spreads Condemn to all survivors on the map, except those carrying tapes, who receive stacks when attacked or hooked. However, in exchange, survivors no longer accumulate Condemn when taking tapes from Sadako's TVs, and they can return the tapes to any TV on the map rather than a specific one, which makes avoiding Condemned status extremely easy.

These changes severely diminish Sadako's usefulness. Survivors now have the ability to disable TVs for 90 seconds by interacting with tapes, effectively removing Sadako's teleportation ability. Dead by Daylight's upcoming modifications essentially grant survivors the power to deactivate Sadako's abilities at their discretion, making her even more challenging to play when she was already not particularly strong. Moreover, a valuable add-on for her stealth gameplay called Reiko's Watch has been weakened, while the Iridescent Videotape has been adjusted to resemble her previous power. Consequently, the Iridescent Videotape transforms from a potent add-on for Sadako to almost a necessity for her to stand a chance.

The response to the rework, particularly from Sadako fans, has been overwhelmingly negative, and the reasons are clear. This rework has potentially turned Sadako into the weakest killer in the game. Instead of joyfully celebrating Dead by Daylight's 7th anniversary, a significant portion of the fanbase is now concerned about the future of this beloved licensed killer. Fortunately, there is still a chance for these changes to be reversed before the Public Test Build concludes. Sadako is an enjoyable killer in Dead by Daylight, and these alterations would greatly diminish the fun of playing as her.

Dead by Daylight is currently available for Mobile, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
