Game Over for Dead by Daylight? Epic Anime and Video Game Crossovers Teased in Recent Survey

Dead by Daylight's latest survey teases thrilling prospects of grand anime and video game crossovers, pointing towards an exciting future for the multiplayer horror sensation

The multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight has been known for its numerous crossovers with popular anime and game franchises throughout its seven-year existence. A recent survey conducted by the game's developer suggests that more crossovers may be on the horizon, involving even more high-profile franchises. Characters like Ash Williams, Freddy Krueger, and Nicolas Cage have already made appearances as survivors or killers in the game, each adding their own unique twist to the gameplay. The survey indicates that the studio has no plans to slow down and wants to continue bringing in a wide variety of characters to cater to the game's fanbase.

Originally released in 2016 for PC, Dead by Daylight is a game where four survivors try to escape a dangerous killer in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase. Players are able to take on any of the five available roles in the game. When the game first launched, all the survivors and killers were original creations by Behaviour Interactive, taking inspiration from various horror archetypes like ghosts, cult leaders, and clowns. However, the studio later introduced third-party characters from well-known horror franchises, resulting in an impressive roster of iconic killers including Ghostface, Pyramid Head, and Michael Myers.

Behaviour Interactive's latest survey implies that Dead by Daylight may be introducing more famous crossovers in the future. The survey, shared on Reddit by user AquaticCitizen, asks participants which franchises they would like to see in the game. Divided into sections for film, comic books, video games, and anime/manga, players can choose up to three options under each category. While options like Evil Within, Parasyte, and Candyman are expected choices, the presence of options like John Wick and Metal Gear Solid suggests that Behaviour Interactive is open to exploring beyond the horror genre. The prospect of seeing Keanu Reeves' iconic character facing off against one of Dead by Daylight's killers could be visually enticing to both new and returning players.

It may take some time before players understand the influence this survey may have on the future content of the game, or if any of the mentioned franchises will even be included in Dead by Daylight. Behaviour Interactive has been diligently working on their own original ideas for the game, such as the recent addition of The Skull Merchant as a killer. While it wouldn't be surprising if there is already more content prepared, players must wait to see what it will eventually entail.

Dead by Daylight can currently be played on various platforms including Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
