The upcoming chapter in Dead by Daylight, End Transmission, promises to bring a fresh sci-fi twist to the game's multiplayer horror gameplay. This new chapter will introduce a killer, survivor, and map, all with a sci-fi theme. Dead by Daylight has already established itself as a top choice for horror fans seeking an immersive asymmetrical multiplayer experience, thanks in large part to its inclusion of famous horror icons from movies, TV, and gaming.
Of course, while the game's iconic horror villains like Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, and Ghostface have drawn in many fans, Behaviour Interactive has not neglected its original characters. These unique characters were the foundation of the game, and End Transmission will continue to build on their stories with a new sci-fi killer and survivor. Despite not having the same level of recognition as the franchise headliners, the original characters still have their own dedicated fanbase, and Behaviour Interactive is committed to expanding their universe.
Dead by Daylight recently announced its 28th DLC chapter titled End Transmission, set to launch on June 13. The minute-long narrative trailer, narrated by the new survivor Gabriel Soma, takes place on an alien world where Gabriel and his team had crash-landed. Gabriel explains that The Singularity, a robot that was with his crew and the new killer in the game, has turned on them and killed the rest of the crew. The trailer shows The Singularity in pursuit of Gabriel as he tries to escape.
Both Gabriel and The Singularity come with three unique character perks. Gabriel's perk, Troubleshooter, allows him to see the generator with the most progress on the map when he's being chased by the killer. On the other hand, The Singularity's perk lets it compromise a generator and become undetectable, gaining a speed boost for 20-30 seconds. The new map, Toba Landing, is set on an alien world and features a rocky, open area as well as a lush forest, providing plenty of cover for survivors to hide.
Live service games pose a formidable challenge when it comes to keeping players engaged with fresh content. This challenge is further magnified when the game relies solely on licensed characters from other franchises such as Halloween or Nightmare on Elm Street. However, Behavior Interactive has shown a keen understanding of the importance of creating new, original characters and stories to maintain the vitality of Dead by Daylight. As a result, the game continues to thrive across multiple platforms including PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
