Following the broadcast of the Ahsoka finale, Star Wars enthusiasts may be pondering its significance for the galaxies. Therefore, let us delve into an analysis of the conclusion of Episode 8.
As stated in our review, classifying Ahsoka Episode 8 as a definitive conclusion would be overly lenient; instead, it serves as a mere foundation for what lies ahead, be it a forthcoming season or Dave Filoni's Star Wars film. It fails to provide a comprehensive experience, which remains a persistent drawback.
The episode continues from where we left off in the previous chapter. The cargo transfer on the Chimaera is nearly finished, Thrawn is preparing the ship and the Eye of Sion for the hyperspace jump back home, and Ahsoka and her team are racing to catch up before it departs. Although not every arc is fully resolved, we do get a glimpse of their future direction and what might be coming up. So, here's the essential information about the conclusion of the Ahsoka finale.
Ahsoka finale ending explained
Disney+In Ahsoka Episode 8's conclusion, Thrawn makes a comeback in the main galaxy and establishes a base on Dathomir alongside the Nightsisters. Meanwhile, Ahsoka and Sabine find themselves stranded in the Unknown Regions. On Peridea, Shin Hati leads a gang of bandits, while it appears that Baylan Skoll has been summoned by the deities of Mortis.
Upon reaching the fortress of the Great Mothers, Ahsoka, Sabine, and Ezra manage to survive the destructive firepower of the Chimaera and successfully defend themselves against Night Troopers. These troopers are later resurrected using dark magic. Ahsoka engages in a battle with Morgan Elsbeth, wielding her new Blade of Talzin, while Sabine and Ezra confront two heavily enhanced troopers.
They successfully defeat their enemies, although it appears that they are too late as Thrawn's ship begins to take off. Using the Force, Ezra makes a daring leap across the gap, while Sabine pushes him upwards, allowing him to board the ship. However, Sabine sacrifices herself to assist Ahsoka in her battle against Morgan and the troopers. Once Morgan is defeated, Huyang arrives in a repaired T-6 to pick them up, and they set off after Thrawn and the Eye of Sion. Despite their efforts, they are unable to reach Thrawn in time.
Thrawn addresses Ahsoka, expressing his admiration for her efforts and considering her a worthy adversary. He regrets not having met her in person and implies that they may never cross paths. Thrawn draws a connection between Ahsoka and her master, suggesting that their strategies are similar and wondering how alike they might become. He suggests that Ahsoka belongs in this particular situation as a lone warrior. Proclaiming victory for himself, Thrawn jumps away to the known galaxy, leaving Ahsoka, Sabine, and Huyang behind.
Disney+As Thrawn emerges from hyperspace, he is met with the sight of a crimson planet known as Dathomir, the notorious abode of the Nightsisters situated in the Outer Rim. Some anticipated witnessing his annihilation of Home One as a symbolic gesture of his resurgence, but Thrawn is far more strategic in his approach – we will have to wait until the next season or Dave Filoni's forthcoming movie, Heir to the Empire, to witness his endeavors to reclaim the empire.
Upon their return to Noti's camp, Ahsoka spots a white owl, which appears to be Morai, the convor connected to the Daughter. The Daughter, a god from Mortis, represents the light and had transferred her life essence to Ahsoka in The Clone Wars. Baylan's revelation further reinforces this connection, as he stands amidst two statues of the Father and the Son, representing the balance and darkness of the Force. It is unclear whether Baylan is being called by Abeloth or if he could potentially be the new Son in the trio of deities.
Rather than searching for Baylan, Shin Hati takes charge of leading the planet's bandits. Ezra manages to return home by stealing a ship from Thrawn's fleet and eventually finds his way to Home One, where he reunites with Hera.
Meanwhile, Ahsoka commends Sabine for her efforts, but Sabine remains skeptical. "Thrawn escaped," she states, but Ahsoka reassures her, "But thanks to you, Ezra made it home... Ezra is where he belongs, and so are we." Sabine gazes into the distance and briefly perceives something peculiar. Dismissing it as mere "shadows in the starlight," she unknowingly detects a presence. Ahsoka, smiling, returns to the camp, while Anakin's Force spirit watches over her.
Could Anakin embody the Father in a new manifestation of the deities of Mortis, with Ahsoka now embodying the light? Only time will unveil the answer.
