The Unanswered Question
The Ahsoka Star Wars TV show's Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn storyline has left fans with a lingering enigma, a plot hole the size of a purrgil. When Ahsoka first became available to stream in August 2023, it set itself up to answer a lot of questions. One of those questions had to do with Ezra and Thrawn's Star Wars Rebels cliffhanger, during which purrgil swept them far away. In answering this question, however, it unwittingly created a massive plot hole.
Live-Action Chimaera Design In Star Wars
In the Star Wars Rebels series finale, the rebels faced Thrawn in a final standoff on Lothal. While the Phoenix squadron initially believed they had the upper hand, Thrawn flipped the tables by using his ship, the Chimaera, to rain fire upon the citizens of Lothal. Ezra, in true Jedi fashion, agreed to give himself up in exchange for Thrawn ceasing fire. However, once taken into custody on the Chimaera, he turned the tides by using the Force to call the group of Force-sensitive purrgil space whales, who exiled Thrawn's fleet - along with Ezra - to an unknown destination. Something happened during these final moments, however, that Ahsoka has forgotten.

The Chimaera Conundrum
The Chimaera, Thrawn's formidable ship, faced an inexplicable situation when Ezra summoned the purrgils to take it to Peridea. The creatures, in their haste, stuck their tentacles through the ship's viewport, causing significant damage. Despite this, the Chimaera still managed to reach Peridea, leaving fans baffled by this inconsistency.
The likelihood of the Chimaera being able to withstand traveling through hyperspace without a viewport and multiple points of damage everywhere the purrgils latched onto is slim, to say the least. This anomaly raises questions about the integrity of the Star Wars universe's established rules and technologies, adding a layer of complexity to the storyline.
The Dilemma of Ezra's Survival
Ezra's survival and departure from the Chimaera present a perplexing narrative dilemma. Thrawn, a cunning and ruthless tactician, wouldn't have allowed Ezra to leave the ship unscathed. Given Ezra's interference with Thrawn's plans and the jeopardy he posed, it is inconceivable that Thrawn would have permitted Ezra to remain on the ship, let alone leave it unharmed upon arrival at Peridea.
Ezra's survival, while a relief to his rebel allies, raises questions about the impact of plot armor in the Star Wars universe. The implausible nature of his survival diminishes the stakes and narrative momentum, challenging the credibility of the storyline and character arcs. This enigma adds an intriguing layer to the evolving narrative of Ahsoka and the Star Wars universe as a whole.
