Not much is actually known about the contents of the One Piece treasure – which could be why its taking Luffy and his crew so long to find it.

Oda has revealed that Pirate King Gol D. Roger obtained the One Piece treasure and combined it with the mysterious ancient treasure of Joy Boy before his death. Following Gol D. Roger's execution by the World Government, pirates from around the world set out on a quarter-century-long treasure hunt for the One Piece.

Does the One Piece actually exist?

The value of the treasure remains unknown, with some claiming it to be immeasurable. Many believe that its worth lies in its personal significance to pirates, rather than its monetary value. There is speculation among fans on Reddit that the One Piece Treasure may be linked to the memories of Jo Boy.

The main characters in the series are now even questioning the existence of the One Piece treasure, leading fans to wonder if it is real. Fortunately, this question has been addressed in both the manga and the anime series. In the original manga, Poneglyphs, which are special guides to the treasure's location, were introduced.

This confirms that the One Piece does indeed exist, but there's a twist. The Poneglyphs were made by the Ohara inhabitants known as the Kozuki Clan, who were tragically wiped out by the World Government, allowing the series to continue for many more episodes.

Additionally, while some fans speculate that the One Piece may be a metaphorical concept rather than a tangible treasure, Eiichiro Oda has personally confirmed that it does exist in the traditional sense of a treasure.

She expressed uncertainty about the ending of the story and expressed a desire to live until the last episode. Initially, she believed the "OP" was related to friends or bonds, but Oda corrected her, stating "The OP is real!" During a 2022 interview, Japanese voice actress Mayumi Tanaka shared that she had asked Oda if One Piece was connected to friendship. However, he clarified, "It's not that! The OP is real!" So, according to Tanaka, One Piece is indeed real and not just a metaphor for friendship, despite fans' previous speculations. The actual nature of One Piece, though, remains a mystery.

Where is the One Piece?

So, since we know that the treasure definitely exists in one form or another, has Oda revealed where we can find it?

Prior to the Wano arc, the whereabouts of the legendary treasure remained a mystery. But in Chapter 967, it was unveiled that the One Piece is situated on an island known as Laugh Tale. Legend has it that Roger persuaded White Beard to lend him Oden, a member of the Kozuki crew, to join him on his ultimate quest. With the assistance of the Kozuki clan, the Roger Pirates were guided to the One Piece's location on Laugh Tale.

Fan theories about the One Piece

Since One Piece is such a long sunning series, it makes sense that there are several fan theories about the true nature of the treasure we’ve all been seeking.

Throughout the manga, it was uncovered that there are three Ancient weapons: Poseidon, Uranus and Pluton. Poseidon is Shirahoshi, the princess of the Ryugu Kingdom, while Pluton is a highly advanced warship capable of mass destruction. The exact nature of Uranus remains unknown, leading fans to speculate that One Piece could either be the ancient weapon Uranus or something created when all three are combined.

Another theory suggests that One Piece is the Rio Poneglyph, which reveals the true history of the Void Century. Although this theory is one of the older ones, it also appears to make the most sense. If One Piece contains information that could disrupt the world order, it would justify the World Government’s actions in the series.

We may not know the exact nature of One Piece, but we can be certain that it is a tangible object. Eiichiro Oda is likely to unveil the mystery of this legendary treasure as the series reaches its conclusion.
