As the Final Saga of One Piece unfolds, the 20 Kings are gaining more significance in the storyline. Creator Eiichiro Oda is set to unveil long-held secrets of the Void Century, and the 20 Monarchs play a crucial role in this narrative. These rulers, who once governed different Kingdoms in the past, banded together to bring down the Ancient Kingdom. The descendants of these monarchs eventually settled in the Holy Land of Marijoa and are now known as the Celestial Dragons. While much remains unknown about the identities of the 20 families that comprise this faction, Oda has gradually provided fans with some insights.
5 Donquixote Family
The Donquixote Family is one of the earliest families believed to be a part of the 20 Kings that ruled in the past. Throughout the Dressrosa Saga in One Piece, the family played a significant role, with Doflamingo, the King of Dressrosa, serving as the primary antagonist. Fans were informed that the 800-year-old king of the Donquixote Family was a cruel ruler who enslaved and tortured the Tontattas until he relocated to the Holy Land of Marijoa. While the appearance of the former Donquixote King from the Void Century remains a mystery, it is a well-known fact that he collaborated with the other 19 kings to bring down the Ancient Kingdom. In the future, fans can expect to uncover the extent of his tyranny on not just the Tontattas, but also the people of Dressrosa during his reign.
4 Nefertari Family
The Nefertari Family, one of the Founding 20, had an unusual relationship with the Ancient Kingdom. Led by Queen Lily, they posed as allies of the Founding 20 while secretly supporting the Ancient Kingdom. Lily's actions ensured that the Will of D survives to this day and that the Poneglyphs, created by the Kozuki, are spread across the world for safekeeping. It has been recently revealed that Lily herself was a member of the D clan, making the Nefertari family a D Family as well. Despite their alliance with the Ancient Kingdom, they are still considered part of the Founding 20.
3 Figarland Family
The Figarland Family, a mysterious group in One Piece, was introduced during One Piece Film: Red when the Gorosei revealed Uta's connection to them through Shanks. They are said to have ruled God Valley, an island where Celestial Dragons once resided. It is believed that these Celestial Dragons were present on the island as far back as 800 years ago. After the attack by Rocks 38 years ago, God Valley disappeared, but the King of the Figarland Family, Garling Figarland, remains alive and heads the Holy Knights. He holds the power to judge even the Celestial Dragons themselves and is believed to be one of the Founding 20.
2 Nerona Family
The Nerona Family, a prominent family from the Void Century and among the Founding 20, was recently introduced in One Piece. It is known that they were ruled by Saint Imu during that time, who may also be the current King of the world. Despite Emporio Ivankov revealing some information about Imu, fans are still in the dark about how the Nerona Family came to power and their overall history. However, it is speculated that Saint Imu was operated on by the previous user of the Ope Ope no Mi.
1 Five Elder Families
The Five Elders are believed to be part of the Founding 20, given their position as the highest-ranking Celestial Dragons directly under Imu. While Oda has revealed their names, their family names remain unclear. However, it is highly likely that each of them represents one of the five families that existed during the Void Century. Thus, their families would also be included in the Founding 20, possibly as former kings. With these five rulers and the previously mentioned four, we now know of 9 out of the 20 families that collaborated to destroy the ancient kingdom 800 years ago in the world of One Piece. The current Five Elders are Saint Jaygarcia Saturn, Saint Topman Valkyrie, Saint Baron Ethan V. Nasujuro, Saint Marcus Mars, and Saint Shepherd Ju Peter.
