Lauren Bushnell Lane and Shawn Booth connected over their shared, albeit concerning, encounters with a producer from Bachelor Nation. During her engagement to season 20 Bachelor, Ben Higgins, from 2016 to 2017, Lauren alleged that the producer feigned tears to deliberately provoke her, causing distress over the potential of Ben choosing JoJo Fletcher as his final pick.
Lauren confronted Todd during Shawn's podcast, stating that she has no ill feelings towards him. She recalled a moment during her season of the show where Todd asked her about the possibility of not being chosen and she appeared to shut down emotionally. In an attempt to elicit a response, Todd started crying. Lauren asked Shawn if he also had a similar experience. Although Todd's name was not explicitly mentioned, it is likely referring to Todd Snyder, who worked on their respective seasons.

"Yes! They would begin playing music on their phone, specifically choosing incredibly sorrowful songs. And if you hadn't heard a song in about eight weeks, you would be overcome with emotion, thinking 'Oh, my God, that is such a wonderful feeling,'" Shawn reminisced. Lauren, on the other hand, clarified that she did not have the chance to listen to any songs. However, she did provide additional details about her encounter with the producer during the 2016 season of the ABC show.
"He suddenly started displaying emotions and, to my surprise, began crying," she expressed, acknowledging her realization that the tears were insincere. "His tears were not genuine. It put me in a state of confusion, questioning my surroundings and my actions. I had this strange epiphany that there was an ulterior motive. And it's not necessarily a negative one - his objective itself is not malicious. He simply desires for me to open up and reveal my emotions... He's attempting to coax that out of me."
Lauren emphasized that she never doubted Todd's intentions. "I am a part of a television program... And they desire me to play a particular role at the moment, to be authentic and vulnerable, which is ultimately why the audience adores this show," she explained. "However, I believe if anything, it caused me to withdraw even further."
Shawn, who was engaged to Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe in season 11, expressed concerns about Todd during a conversation with Lauren. Shawn revealed that he had placed a significant amount of trust in his producer, who was the only one he had spoken to for 12 weeks. He acknowledged that Todd knew how to provoke him and admitted that he no longer feels resentful towards him, understanding now that The Bachelor and Bachelorette is a lucrative business worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Todd was simply doing his job, which is why he is considered one of the best in the industry. Shawn acknowledged that the show is created to entertain and make a profit, and while he wishes he had known this beforehand, he is aware that some things that were broadcasted did not accurately depict what actually happened. He used to harbor bitterness about this, but has moved on.
Lauren married Chris Lane and they are now the proud parents of two sons. In an exciting announcement this month, Shawn revealed that he will be welcoming his own child in December, as his partner Audrey, also known as "Dre," is expecting.
