Patty James, the mother of former Bachelor Matt James, had a brief stint in Bachelor Nation. She was sent home during the series premiere of The Golden Bachelor. Patty, 70, shared a photo of herself from the first night of the show on Instagram on Friday, September 29, with the caption, "It wasn't meant to be. God has a plan for me (and you ❤️)."
In the comments section of the post, several fans expressed their support for the retired real estate professional. One user complimented her appearance by stating, "You looked absolutely stunning! Your plan will unfold as it should!" Another fan suggested that she should be chosen as the first Golden Bachelorette, adding, "Next PLATINUM Bachelorette! Right everyone?!"
During the premiere on Thursday, September 28, Patty was among the six contestants eliminated by Gerry Turner. Gerry, 72, expressed his gratitude towards the contestants for joining him on this journey and acknowledged the connections he felt with some of them during the rose ceremony.
He continued, expressing his reluctance to address the matter that has been weighing on him for several months. The challenge lies in appreciating remarkable women like yourselves, while also acknowledging that not all of you will be present in the future.
Matt, aged 31, and his girlfriend, Rachael Kirkconnell, made a delightful appearance to watch the first episode of the series, delighting Patty with a delightful assortment of treats. Sharing the memorable moment on Instagram, Matt wrote, "A visit is incomplete without gifts," as he surprised his mother on Thursday evening with Nothing Bundt Cakes and an outpouring of affection to celebrate the premiere.
He expressed, "We adore you, we're extremely proud of you, and I sincerely hope you discover what you are seeking. We are eagerly anticipating watching alongside you." Patty, in response, referred to the visit as "the ultimate surprise" in the comment section of the post.
Similar to numerous fans of Bachelor Nation, Matt's closest friend Tyler Cameron was enthusiastic about witnessing Patty's journey to find a new love on The Golden Bachelor. "Patty is my unexpected contender," remarked Cameron, 30, during an episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen earlier this month. "I believe she will excel in this venture."

After getting to know Patty through her close friendship with Matt, Cameron playfully expressed his concern, stating that she might be too much for Gerry to handle. He also joked that Gerry should make sure he has his pacemaker with him to handle her.
Gerry, on his side, subtly implied to We that he had found love on the show and even used the L-word.
