Taika Waititi, the director of Thor: Ragnarok, has disclosed that his upcoming Star Wars project is already in progress. He openly acknowledges that he anticipates his new film to potentially bother certain fans of the renowned franchise. New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi, who gained recognition for directing the two most recent Thor films, has been granted the chance to delve into a distant galaxy and take the helm of his own Star Wars movie.
Although MCU audiences adored Thor: Ragnarok, Thor: Love and Thunder, Waititi's second film, was met with less enthusiasm from fans and critics. Consequently, the director will not be returning for a third Thor installment. Nonetheless, this development has allowed Waititi to fully concentrate on his upcoming Star Wars project. In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, the director shared some insights and updates regarding the progress of his Star Wars film.
Taika Waititi will not be returning to direct another Thor film, as he is currently involved in other projects with Marvel Studios. Waititi mentioned that both he and the studio have multiple ongoing projects, and they will likely wait until he completes these before considering another Thor movie.
"I have around four additional scripts that I am currently working on. I am determined to invest sufficient time in them to ensure they are executed accurately. I am not interested in rushing the production of this particular movie."
Although he cannot divulge many specifics about the movie's appearance, he did admit that it will undeniably reflect his distinct artistic vision. Speaking to Variety at the premiere of his film Next Goal Wins, he teased, "It will be... dramatic pause... a Taika Waititi film."

Taika Waititi, the acclaimed director behind Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit, is set to embark on a new adventure in a galaxy far, far away with his upcoming Star Wars film. While details about the project are still under wraps, Waititi has hinted that it will be a bold and potentially controversial addition to the beloved franchise.
As a fan of Waititi's previous work, I am both excited and apprehensive about this new film. On the one hand, I trust Waititi's ability to bring his unique vision and comedic sensibilities to the Star Wars universe. His work on Thor: Ragnarok was a breath of fresh air for the MCU, and I believe he could do the same for Star Wars. On the other hand, I am concerned that Waititi's irreverent approach could alienate some fans who are more attached to the traditional Star Wars formula.
