Austen Kroll gave further insight into the contentious kiss he shared with Taylor Ann Green on the latest installment of Southern Charm, prompting Craig Conover to raise inquiries.
"We didn't sleep together," Austen, aged 36, revealed to his friends Craig, aged 34, and Whitney Sudler-Smith in the episode airing on Thursday, November 16. "And that's the whole story."
When questioned about how the kiss occurred, Austen replied, "It takes two to tango," asserting, "To be honest, she initiated it."
Austen claimed that he and Taylor, who is 29 years old, were enjoying music and dancing together when Taylor suddenly leaned in for a kiss. Austen then reenacted the incident for the guys and confessed that he willingly reciprocated the kiss by grabbing her.
In the heat of the moment, Austen admitted that he didn't feel guilty about it. He saw it as a brief but meaningful connection with someone he was close to. (During an episode of Southern Charm in October, Austen revealed to Shep Rose that he and Taylor kissed following Shep and Taylor's breakup in the summer of 2022.)
The founder of The Kings Calling Brewing Co. reiterated, "I'll always remember when she called me the next day, I was relieved that we didn't sleep together, thank God."
Perplexed, Craig questioned, "So, she left your room after you kissed?" Austen clarified, "No, it wasn't in my room. It actually happened in my kitchen."
Craig was surprised by Austen's claims because he believed the makeout happened in New York City after the cast's season 8 reunion in fall 2022. "You said it was in New York," Craig argued, but Austen insisted that it actually took place three weeks later. "I never said it happened in New York," Austen claimed. "We only did it once. Accept it!"
Craig, on the other hand, remained unconvinced and cast doubt on the authenticity of his best friend's narrative during a candid interview.
"Taylor originally mentioned that it took place in New York," Craig stated to the cameras, referencing Taylor's previous remarks about discussing a relationship with Austen "after New York." "Nevertheless, the sleepovers between them occurred fairly recently."
Craig pointed out that if they had kissed in New York and then had private sleepovers in early 2023, it would logically imply that they would have made out again during those sleepovers. In response, Austen admitted in his confessional that he had no regrets about the kiss, except for the way it became known to others.
he affirmed that although the kiss may not have been completely devoid of significance, Taylor and him did not pursue a romantic relationship. They engaged in conversation and mutually concluded that they were better suited as friends. He had initially believed that they could simply keep it hidden and conceal the truth from others, but now he regrets having done so.
