Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are still dealing with their divorce battle.
According to court documents obtained by People on Monday, March 18, Turner's lawyers have filed paperwork in Miami-Dade County, Florida to "reactivate" the former couple's divorce case. This comes after their temporary custody agreement expired in January.
Turner, who is 28, and Jonas, who is 34, started dating in 2016 and announced their engagement the next year. They got married in a low-key ceremony in Las Vegas in May 2019 and later had a second wedding celebration in France a month later. Their family grew with the arrival of daughters Willa in July 2020 and Delphine in July 2022.
In September 2023, Jonas filed for divorce from Turner, leading to speculation about their split after they were seen without their wedding rings earlier that month. They released a joint statement on Instagram, stating, “After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage.” They emphasized that it was a united decision and asked for privacy for themselves and their children, despite various rumors circulating.
Despite their initial hopes, the divorce took a turn for the worse when Turner sued Jonas. She claimed that he was keeping their daughters in New York City against their prior agreement to move to England. Jonas denied the accusations. Turner also mentioned that their split happened suddenly after a disagreement in August 2023.
In October 2023, it was confirmed that Jonas and Turner had reached a temporary custody agreement for their daughters until January. They stated, "After a successful mediation, we have agreed that the children will split their time between the U.S. and the U.K. We are looking forward to co-parenting together."
Later in the same month, a source shared with Us that the couple was making progress in their relationship and were now on the same page after addressing their issues. The atmosphere between them was less tense, and they were moving forward positively.
The insider also mentioned that Jonas and Turner had a friendly conversation, which helped resolve the custody dispute more quickly. They both prioritized the well-being of their children and wanted to avoid prolonging the situation.
Turner and Jonas have both found new love interests following their breakup. Turner has been romantically linked to British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson since October 2023, with a source telling Us in January that their relationship was progressing well.
On the other hand, Jonas was first seen with model Stormi Bree in January. According to an insider, "He's starting to date again. It's still early days, but he's enjoying himself and is open to seeing where things lead."
Editor's P/S:
The ongoing divorce battle between Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas is a reminder that even the most seemingly perfect relationships can hit a rough patch. Their initial joint statement seemed amicable, but the subsequent legal actions and custody dispute paint a more complex picture. It's clear that both parties are struggling to navigate this difficult time, and it's important to remember that divorce can be an emotionally draining process that takes a toll on all involved.
As the article mentions, Turner and Jonas have since moved on to new relationships, indicating that they are both trying to rebuild their lives after the split. It's encouraging to hear that they have reached a temporary custody agreement and are committed to co-parenting their children, despite their differences. Ultimately, the well-being of their daughters should be the top priority, and it's admirable that they are putting aside their personal issues to ensure their children are happy and healthy.
