Joe Jonas is not surprised that Sophie Turner has filed paperwork to restart their divorce proceedings. A representative for Jonas, 34, mentioned that the filing was just a legal step and that the couple is still working towards a friendly resolution.

On Tuesday, it was confirmed that Turner, 28, filed paperwork in Miami-Dade County, Florida to reactivate her and Jonas' divorce case after their temporary custody agreement expired in January.

Jonas, who has two daughters with Turner - Willia, 3, and Delphine, 20 months - filed for divorce in September 2023.

"After enjoying four wonderful years of marriage, we have both agreed to peacefully end our relationship," the former couple shared in a joint statement on Instagram. They had tied the knot in 2019. They expressed their hope for privacy and respect during this time for themselves and their children.

However, despite the initial amicable tone, Turner filed a lawsuit against Jonas a month later. She alleged that he was keeping their daughters in New York City against their agreed plan to live in England permanently.

Jonas' representative criticized the lawsuit, stating that if he gave Turner the children's passports as she requested to take them out of the country, he would be breaking a Florida court order that prohibits both parents from relocating the children.

Fortunately, the conflict was resolved quickly when Turner and Jonas came to a temporary custody agreement in October 2023.

"We have reached an agreement that the children will split their time between homes in the U.S. and the U.K. after a successful mediation," they shared in a statement. "We are excited to co-parent together."

A source later revealed that the couple's relationship was not as tense, as they focused on being positive co-parents for their daughters.

The insider explained that a recent amicable conversation between them led to a quicker resolution, as they both did it for the sake of their kids and didn't want to prolong the process.

Since their split, both Turner and Jonas have moved on to new relationships. Turner has been romantically linked to British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson, while Jonas has been seen spending time with model Stormi Bree.

Earlier this month, a source mentioned to Us that Jonas is open to introducing Bree, who is 33 years old, to his kids if their relationship continues to progress positively.

The insider also shared that Jonas and Bree have not said "I love you" yet, but their relationship has been getting more serious over the past few months of dating.

The intricate divorce proceedings between Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have taken a new turn with Turner's recent filing to reactivate their divorce case. Despite their initial announcement of an amicable separation, the couple has faced challenges, including a lawsuit over child custody and Jonas's subsequent relationship with Stormi Bree. While Jonas's representative claims the latest filing is a mere legal formality, it raises questions about the state of their relationship and the future of their co-parenting arrangement.

As the couple navigates the complexities of divorce and co-parenting, it is crucial to prioritize the well-being of their daughters. The temporary custody agreement they reached in October 2023 seemed promising, but the recent filing suggests that there may be ongoing issues that need to be resolved. Jonas and Turner should continue to focus on maintaining a respectful and cooperative relationship for the sake of their children, ensuring that they have a loving and stable environment amidst the family's transition.
