King Charles III had compassion for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s situation up until it affected him personally.

Omid Scobie's upcoming book "Endgame" reveals that Prince Charles, 75, initially sympathized with Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, until their Netflix docuseries "hubbub" overshadowed his charitable work. The series premiered in December 2022, and according to the book, Charles initially requested a "wall of silence" when the first three episodes rolled out. Scobie states that Charles didn't want to hear others speak ill of Harry as he was genuinely sad and angry over his son's tumultuous relationship with the royal family.

Charles’ perspective on the drama changed when everyone started talking about Harry and Meghan's show. At that time, he made a significant donation to The Felix Project, a nonprofit that works on redistributing surplus food from farms and markets to local food banks. Despite his charitable act, the press paid little attention to Charles, focusing instead on Harry and Meghan.

In their six-episode special, Harry and Meghan opened up about their whirlwind romance and their decision to step down as senior working members of the royal family in January 2020. Since leaving, Harry has been honest about his issues with his father and brother, Prince William.

Harry acknowledged that they may never receive a genuine apology or accountability, but he stated that he and his wife are moving forward and focusing on the future. In addition, he shared details about his childhood and the challenges they faced after leaving the U.K. and moving to the United States, including the loss of security provided by the crown. They now fund their own security team while residing in the U.S. After living at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, they would use the home when visiting the U.K. with their children, Archie and Lilibet.

Nevertheless, in March, Charles requested the pair to leave the premises due to their lack of time spent in the U.K.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been asked to leave their home at Frogmore Cottage, according to a spokesperson for the couple's Archewell foundation. In a book by Scobie, it is reported that Harry called Charles to ask if he wanted to see his grandchildren, but Charles did not answer the question. Instead, he reassured Harry that there would always be "somewhere" for them to stay when they visit, leaving Harry feeling disheartened.

Over time, Harry has continued to have a strained relationship with his father. Although he did attend the historic coronation ceremony in May, Harry left early to be with his family. He was notably absent from his father's 75th birthday celebrations, but he and Meghan made a special effort to reach out to Charles with a video of their children singing happy birthday, which was well-received and seen as a positive step toward healing their relationship.
