The Big Picture
Robert Kardashian, once a main character on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, has chosen to stay clear of reality TV cameras since the show's end in 2021.
Even though Robert is not physically present on the show, his voice can still be heard during phone conversations in the current season, revealing his strong bond with his sister Khloé. The fact that Rob has chosen to prioritize his privacy and devote himself to being a loving father to his daughter Dream is highly regarded by his siblings, even though there are rumors circulating about a potential comeback on the show.
Robert Kardashian Wasn't Always Camera Shy
Robert Kardashian, formerly known for his active participation in reality TV, was prominently featured in numerous seasons of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, consistently engaging in the same drama as his siblings. His presence on the show allowed the audience to witness various aspects of his personality. However, following the conclusion of KUWTK in 2021, Rob has deliberately distanced himself from the television cameras. His remarkable ability to maintain close ties with his family, despite not visually appearing on their new Hulu show, is truly commendable. In this third season, the family commemorates Rob's daughter, Dream Kardashian's sixth birthday, although both Rob and Blac Chyna were notably absent. Nevertheless, on this season of The Kardashians, we are fortunate enough to hear Rob's voice during their phone conversations. It appears that, for now, this is the extent to which the show will capture Robert's presence.

Rob Kardashian's journey on KUWTK brings back nostalgic memories for true fans. From his days as the boyfriend of former Cheetah Girl Adrienne Bailon, to his well-known relationship with Blac Chyna, and the challenges he faced with his health, there's no doubt that Rob has had his fair share of ups and downs. Many viewers have acknowledged that the overwhelming fame and attention may not have been suited for him. Being the only male figure in a household dominated by females took a toll on him emotionally. Throughout the show, we witnessed the family attending multiple therapy sessions, where Rob repeatedly expressed his sorrow. The absence of his father, Robert Kardashian Sr., during his upbringing was a profound source of difficulty for him during the series. At times, his mental health struggles were captured on camera, along with the highs and lows of his personal life.
Robert Kardashian Jr.'s Reality TV Appearances Have Diminished in Recent Years
Robert was a main character on the show KUWTK for at least eight seasons. After that, he decided to only make guest appearances. In 2016, he entered a relationship with Blac Chyna, who had previously been with rapper Tyga. Their relationship was extremely turbulent. Matters worsened the following year when Blac Chyna filed a lawsuit against the Kardashians, accusing them of defamation and interference with other reality TV projects. The legal battle concluded with the Kardashian family emerging victorious and E! cancelling the reality show Rob & Chyna, which featured Robert and Blac Chyna. On season 3 of The Kardashians, Khloé Kardashian made a discreet comment about Blac Chyna, the mother of her niece. During an interview, Khloé stated, "I have no relationship with Dream's mom. It's difficult to maintain a connection with someone who sues you for hundreds of millions of dollars."

It's evident that Robert has no interest in being part of a reality TV show, which is perfectly acceptable. His sisters have respected his decision to distance himself and have made an effort to preserve his privacy. However, there was one instance where Rob's privacy was briefly disrupted when he made a rare appearance on The Kardashians. During the earlier seasons, cameras caught just a glimpse of Rob's side profile during Kris Jenner's birthday celebration. He was present for a short period and seemed to be almost hiding behind his sister Khloé. Overall, he has consistently stayed away from the show. In recent seasons, he has made the tiniest of appearances at family dinners, allowing people to catch a glimpse of him. This season, he made an even more limited appearance: a couple of voice appearances during a phone call with Kris Jenner. Additionally, a portion of their conversation was bleeped out to adhere to PG TV standards.
If We Can't See Robert, At Least We Can Hear Him on 'The Kardashians'

Rob, resembling Charlie's voice from Charlie's Angels, has been a mysterious character throughout the season. In episode 8 of season 3, his voice is finally heard as he talks to Khloé about their daughter Dream and her upcoming birthday party. Over time, Khloé and Rob have built a strong and special bond unlike his relationship with his other sisters. Despite being physically apart, they have managed to maintain a close and honest connection through video chats, which Khloé cherishes.
During their conversation, Robert goes into specific details about Dream's birthday wishes. He mentions that she wants a three-tier cake, although he can't recall the exact flavor she requested. Dream also desires entertainment in the form of joke-telling, a DJ, a moon bounce, and slime people. Additionally, she has a butterfly theme in mind, including a butterfly dress and pink braids in her hair. Robert concludes the conversation with heartfelt words, saying "God bless you... You're a good kid. Keep it up, girl... I love you so much." Khloé responds with affection, saying "I love you too, Bobby boy."
When asked if there is a possibility of Rob making a return to the show, Khloé implies that he is considering it and often talks about it. She acknowledges that Rob has faced personal challenges but praises him as an exceptional father, expressing her pride in him. Khloé believes that Rob is in a positive place and predicts that he will soon be back on the show.
Additionally, the birthday party for Dream was a resounding success. Khloé expresses her adoration for her niece, emphasizing that Dream is Rob's daughter and is incredibly adorable. Khloé is assisting Rob in planning Dream's upcoming sixth birthday celebration and commends him for his exceptional parenting skills. She concludes by affirming their incredibly close relationship.
Rob seems to prefer keeping to himself and avoiding the added trouble that comes with being on camera. While Kourtney Kardashian has threatened to leave the show multiple times, Rob has remained true to his feelings and refused the idea of being constantly followed. Instead, he chooses to share glimpses of his life and regularly features pictures of Dream on Instagram. The episodes of "The Kardashians" are released every Thursday at 12 a.m. ET and can be streamed on Disney+ and Hulu in the US.
