Robert De Niro and Tiffany Chen's daughter, Gia, made her debut on television at the young age of 3 months. During an episode of CBS Mornings on Friday, July 14, Chen, 45, joyfully introduced their little bundle of joy to Gayle King, 68. Chen expressed how Gia's arrival had brought more enjoyment and excitement into her and De Niro's lives.
During a lighthearted conversation with Gia, King playfully inquired about her favorite film of her father's. Chen responded off-camera with a witty remark, saying, "The one in the delivery room, where she takes the spotlight!"
In May, De Niro, 79, officially announced that he and Chen, who began dating in 2021, had recently become parents to a child. The award-winning actor later revealed that Gia was born on April 6. During an interview with King, De Niro assured that the birth of his daughter was not a coincidence.
“I inquired of him, ‘Were you desiring to have a baby?’ He responded, ‘Indeed. This baby was intentionally conceived,’” King elucidated during an installment of CBS Mornings. “Both of them had the desire for this baby, they are ecstatic. She was brought into this world due to love, hence he is extremely enthusiastic and thrilled about it.”

Chen discussed the unexpected complication she experienced after giving birth to Gia during her recent interview with King. The trouble began when she noticed numbness and tingling in her tongue upon returning home from the hospital. "I suddenly felt an unusual sensation in my face, a weird feeling," Chen disclosed in a clip posted on July 13. "When I attempted to eat, I couldn't keep the food in my mouth. It resulted in slurred speech."
Chen sought medical attention and received a diagnosis of Bell's palsy, a condition marked by sudden temporary weakness in the muscles of the face. "The moment I arrived at the hospital, I completely lost all facial function," Chen remembered.
In 1976, De Niro became a father for the first time with the birth of his son Raphael, who is now 46, from his relationship with Diahnne Abbott. He also adopted Drena, Abbott's daughter from a previous relationship, who is now 51. De Niro then became a father once more in 1995 when he welcomed twins Julian and Aaron, who are now 27, through a surrogate mother with Toukie Smith.
De Niro added to his family after marrying Grace Hightower by welcoming his son Elliot in 1998 and daughter Helen in 2011. However, their marriage came to an end in 2018 after being together for twenty years.
Tragically, De Niro's 19-year-old grandson, Leandro, passed away recently. The cause of his death is currently under investigation, but his mother, Drena, has suggested that drugs played a role.
Law enforcement sources informed NBC News and ABC News on Friday that Sofia Haley Marks, a 20-year-old suspect, has been apprehended in relation to Leandro's demise. Marks is accused of selling drugs to Leandro before his passing. Currently, she remains in police custody in New York City, facing federal charges of drug distribution.
