Sharing a photo of her beloved teenager on Instagram, Drena, 51, conveyed her deep love and indescribable affection for him. She revealed that since the moment she first felt him in her belly, he had brought immeasurable joy, pure love, and genuine meaning to her life. You were deeply cherished and valued, and I only wish that love alone could have been enough to save you."

Drena also mentioned artist Carlos Mare, who she shares her son with, in her heartfelt message. Apologetically, she wrote, "I deeply apologize, my dear child. My apologies to @carlosmare as well. May you rest in eternal peace and paradise, my beloved son ️️️️."

Before his passing, Leandro followed in the footsteps of his mother and grandfather by pursuing a career in acting. In 2018, he acted alongside Drena in the movie "A Star Is Born," portraying the son of George "Noodles" Stone, played by Dave Chappelle. The mother and son duo also collaborated on the films "The Collection" in 2005 and "Cabaret Maxime" in 2018.

The 79-year-old Oscar winner has not made a public statement regarding the death of his grandson.

In addition to Drena, whom he adopted during his marriage to Diahnne Abbott, Robert has six children. He has a son named Raphael with Abbott, with whom he ended his 12-year marriage in 1988. Later, the Goodfellas actor had twin sons named Julian and Aaron with Toukie Smith through a surrogate in 1995, before their separation in the following year.
