Shannon Beador has finally spoken out following her arrest for a hit-and-run incident and driving under the influence (DUI).
In a video shared on her Instagram Story on Tuesday, October 17, the 59-year-old reality star addressed the speculation surrounding the recent events. Beador acknowledged that it has been a while since she last posted and expressed her current inability to provide further comments. However, she reassured her followers that she plans to eventually reveal the truth with transparency, integrity, and authenticity.
In the video, the Real Housewives of Orange County star was seen walking her dog, Archie, and sharing that she is currently prioritizing her health and well-being.
The attorney of the reality star released a statement in response to her arrest, expressing that he had spent a significant amount of time with Shannon the previous day. He noted her deep remorse and regret, and emphasized that they would be waiting for the official information regarding the case. Additionally, the attorney mentioned that Shannon is fully ready to take accountability for her actions.
Beador's legal troubles were also commented on by her friend Jeff Lewis. Speaking on a September episode of SiriusXM's Jeff Lewis Live, Lewis revealed that Beador had gotten a DUI on Saturday night and had been involved in a car accident, resulting in injuries. "She will need time to recover," he added. Being long-time friends with Beador, Lewis expressed his shock, as he had never known her to drink and drive before. This dispels any notions of Beador being an alcoholic, which had been brought up on a previous episode of RHOC, according to Lewis, who is 53 years old.
"I don't believe Shannon is an alcoholic. As someone close to her, I believe she is currently facing numerous personal challenges, and alcohol has likely become a coping mechanism for her. However, I do not consider her to be an alcoholic," he expressed. "I am pleased to share that she will begin counseling this week, which brings me happiness." Prior to addressing her arrest, Beador raised doubts about the allegations made by her Bravo costars concerning her dependence on alcohol.
“It’s difficult. I am aware that it is not a reflection of my true self. My children watched the episode alongside me and were quite upset by it. They said, ‘Mom, that is not the person you truly are.’ When I am on the show, I tend to highlight unkind actions of my fellow cast members. However, I make an effort to refrain from making broad generalizations about people's personalities as it can be harmful.”
Bravo star Tamra Judge is among those who have speculated about Shannon Beador's alleged drinking issue. Judge, 56, has previously suggested that Beador's inability to recall her behavior after consuming alcohol indicates a more significant concern.
Meanwhile, Gina Kirschenheiter expressed her dissatisfaction with Beador bringing up her 2019 DUI during season 17. Kirschenheiter, 39, was disappointed and angry that her past became a topic of discussion while Beador was dealing with her own problems.
"I'm angry, disappointed, and upset about it. I can't comprehend why I'm being targeted, and I don't think she truly understands the impact of her actions," she shared with Us last month. "Furthermore, she didn't fully take responsibility or acknowledge actually uttering those words. And not only did she say them, but she also gave a speech about it in front of people I hardly know."
