Princess Kate thoroughly enjoyed herself as she participated in a wheelchair rugby game.
The 41-year-old royal, who serves as the Patron of the Rugby Football League, made a visit to the Allam Sport Centre in Hull, England on Thursday, October 5th. Her purpose was to raise awareness about inclusivity in rugby. During the event, she joined the England Wheelchair Rugby League in a wheelchair, engaging in a friendly match with world-cup champions. Additionally, she also played alongside Hull's Learning Disability Rugby League team.
Students from the Centre of Excellence at Hull FC also accompanied Kate to gain insights into various disability rugby leagues. Throughout the game, Kate expressed her enthusiasm by applauding fellow players, raising her hands in the air, laughing, and playfully throwing the ball.
Kate wore a Rugby Football League polo and sweatpants for the outing, complemented by loose curls, gold hoop earrings, and natural makeup. During the game, she gathered her hair into a ponytail and casually tossed it over her shoulder.
Kate's involvement with the Wheelchair Rugby League is not new. In November 2022, England claimed the world title with a 28-24 victory over France. To commemorate their success, she graciously invited the players to a reception at Hampton Court Palace in January.
At the time, she told the team she watched the match on TV with her children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.
Princess Kate received high praise from England's coach, Tom Coyd, who spoke highly of her warm aura and extensive knowledge about the sport. He commended her for being a fantastic Patron for Rugby League and sports in the UK. Additionally, the coach mentioned that Princess Kate shared how her children were fully engrossed in the entire program, making for an exciting viewing experience as the game was highly intense.
He commended the Wheelchair Rugby League for its exceptional inclusivity, noting that it welcomes individuals regardless of their physical abilities. In an interview with the magazine, he proudly mentioned that their squad consists of four able-bodied individuals who have represented England in wheelchair sports. This unique sport provides this opportunity exclusively.
Prince Harry previously served as the Patron for both the Rugby Football League and Rugby Football Union until he withdrew from his royal duties in 2020. In February 2022, Kate was appointed as the new patron, as announced by Kensington Palace. The palace stated, "These new patronages, bestowed upon The Duchess by Her Majesty The Queen, strongly reflect Her Royal Highness' enduring dedication to sports and the manifold advantages it can offer, both within our communities and for personal growth."
